COULD JL be planning on a 3 headed monster (Egolf/Singh.Thompson) for the ISU game?

It used to be you planned to try and shut down O the guard.....but NOW its the "other" O at center that we have to be ready for.

Did JL give AT a tuneup to get him ready for ISU? Will we use 15 fouls and put the guy at the line?

I'd STILL like to see a bit of WE and SS or WE and AT at the same time but I doubt we see that expirement against ISU...if ever.

I know Dima would eat up AT and SS for that matter but you could rotate some help AND it would keep WE in the game and maybe out of foul trouble. Use the 10 fouls of SS and AT and let WE play some of the 4 position with TB at 3 and SM/AW at 1-2. You immediatley get deeper with CR coming off the bench....

DRU ... we need to make you honorary coach for the ISU game and get you down on the bench. :) You would be a fan favorite for sure when you came out of the locker room!

Nah....I'd get two quick T's and be outta the game before the 5 minute mark of the 1st half. But if I DID put 2 bigs in at once OOB would by my 2010 golf pass for sure.

Serious question though......you think JL is going to throw all 3 guys at Odiakosa? When AT is in, run a zone to give him some help and keep WE fresh and outta foul trouble.

I really like the idea. I didn't see the game yesterday because I was driving between Peoria and Bloomington (by the way the U.S. Cellular Coliseum is actually pretty nice inside, better than I expected), so I was listening to Snell and getting texts from my friend. It sounds like AT played really well but it also seemed that it was a bit out of necessity. With WE and SS having two fouls, we couldn't afford for either to get their third, and since it was Evansville, maybe JL decided to put him in instead of going small. I honestly doubt that we will see AT in the ISU game, but I do like the idea of having a combination of WE, AT or WE, SS in the game at the same time to combat Odiakosa.

I think fouls will dictate whether we have a 2 headed monster or a 3 headed monster in the post....AT should still get 5 to 7 minutes a game IMO if he is to get any better and gain confidence!

I thought Thompson was in due to the foul troubles?

That was my take on it too, but I think I remember one time this season where both WE and SS were in foul trouble so we went without either of them. I can't remember who we played but if I do, I'll edit this post.

Anthony Thompson had several minutes in the Illinois Game. I think he has been playing better in practice and earned some minutes. If you want to think creatively I think he has skills for a 4 and that would keep him out of the pushing in the Post which is where the physical strength becomes an issue. He also has a perimeter shot. I do think I would start him and see how the game is officiated before sending Will in.

I would start AT at the 5 and WE at the 4 and run high-low. We have good personnel to do that. Yet I don't think it's ever been considered.

This thought occurred to me yesterday, too. I think AT was in mostly because of the foul trouble yesterday, but I also think Les wanted to experiment with him some, especially having him in the middle of the 1-3-1 and 2-3 zones. I have to think the coaching staff has been considering some new ways of stopping/slowing Dima after the way he destroyed us last week. Given AT's play yesterday, I think we will probably see him for at least a short stint against ISU, especially if WE is in foul trouble again.

I'd do the same thing! If AT is not getting any looks at the 5 why have we not tried to get him a game like Garnett where he can play the 4. AT said in HS his coach let him take shots from the outside. Are we too 1 dimensional not to look at a player beyond their height. I bet if we had Magic Johnson playing for us he would be our starting center.

Thompson played in the first half because of fouls. Jim Les will never play Singh, Egolf and Thompson at the sametime. He is a creature of habit. How often have we seen any of those 3 play with even one of the others?

AT had 2 points and zero rebounds in 16 minutes against Evansville.

If he was the better option at the 5, then Coach Les would be playing him more. My guess would be he'll only play against ISU if WE/SS get into foul trouble.

Don't forget the 3 blocked shots......

You are most likley correct though about him ONLY playing if we have foul trouble..... and while playing AT ISN'T a "better option" then either WE or SS it could make that position stronger with a more rested WE AND the team better by being deeper.

Singh has 4 points, 6 rebounds, and 0 blocks in 25 minutes against Evansville this season.

I'm not convinced he is the better option, especially since he won't be here next season. AT could use the playing time to show what he has to offer us next season and beyond.

I think the "better in practice" is usually our code for finishing a team rule punishment.

Dog, not only will I buy you the golf pass but all the 19 hole beer you can drink for 2010;-)
We have suffered way two long with this small play BS:!::mad:
My answer is, it would be a good idea but NO, JL won't do it! We were lucky we seen it once this year (WE & SS) for 5 mins. Worked realy good and then never seen it again:!::mad:
