Dave reynolds' article 2/9/10- Versace vs. Donewald

Bob was a bit paranoid.. I remember one year when we were over at Horton practicing, and a couple of the team managers were straggling behind and he accused us of secretly videotaping their walk through- what a hoot!

What a great read! :) Oh, those were the days. I really hope Les brings in Versace to give the team some kind of a pre-game pep talk. I really want us to kick their @ss good tonight!!!!

More than "a bit".

I recall that press conference that Dave referred to, when a local cameraman from one of the Peoria stations (I thought it was WMBD, but Dave's article says it was WEEK), was filming Donewald's press conference. He had a Bradley t-shirt on, but he also had a jacket over the t-shirt. So it was almost impossible to see that the guy was wearing the Bradley t-shirt. But if a person looked carefully enough, saw the red, and extrapolated using knowledge of what BU t-shirts looked like, you could presume it was a Bradley shirt. I am sure nobody in the room noticed this except Donewald. But instead of ignoring it, since the cameraman was just there doing his job and covering the ISU press conference for his station, Donewald stopped the press conference and announced that they would not proceed until the cameraman left the room.
What a jerk. Donewald always did suffer from BU-envy syndrome.

that was great coaching rivalry...there so many in the 80's and 90's that you don't really have anymore.

JD Barnett,Stallings,Herrin,Spoon,Bender,Smithson,to name a few. It was great when those guys came to town....it doesn't seem the same now with current Valley coaches.
