John Wilkins made official visit to Providence over the weekend

Did this have to come out TODAY!? Puts a little damper on my increasingly festive mood... I still have hope, maybe blind hope, but it's there.

By the sound of the coach's quotes it sounds as if he was sugar coating it for the PJS and is drawing in other schools saying he is open. Hopefully the truth is somewhere in the middle and only an offer from top 15 team would change his mind. Afterall, PC isn't exactly the cream of the crop in the Big East. Not to mention, Keno might not be there to see John's...oh, wait, nvm... ;)

The coach is doing what most high school or JUCO coach would be doing for his guy - trying to get the best situation for him. Sure, it sounds like he could be the big fish in the small pond in the MVC, but if he's as good as everyone says, he could be the big fish in the big pond somewhere else.

Completely agree BB, and I have no problem with that. I also think getting these coaches in to see John raises the level of exposure for the rest of the players on that roster, which is also something he should be doing for the good of his kids.

I just hope he doesn't sign with Marquette...that will make it really painful to watch Marquette play next year...then I'd be forced to see Dwight Buycks, Darius Johnson-Odom, and John Wilkins all playing together in Marquette unis...and that would be torture to me...3 guys that BU came very close to getting, but went on to the same BCS pasture...Ugh.

Of the schools listed, Marquette would be my biggest "fear". Why go to Providence? That's like goin to Penn St, just not gonna be an elite team in the Big East. And, if I were a parent, I wouldnt want my kid anywhere near Bruce Pearl and the mess he creates at Tennessee. Kansas St is ok i guess. But with Marquette being relatively close to his dad, They could be attractive to him.

I still say he would love BU and would regret changing his mind to go elsewhere. He could have 1 heck of a college career here in the Valley.

Too bad

Too bad

Too bad his original letter of intent wasn't binding, then we'd be sitting in the catbird's seat.

Providence does not have an available scholarship, and JW has received no offer...
can you blame the kid for taking a trip and seeing the sights?
BTW - he watched Providence get beat at home for their 3rd straight loss and 5th in the last 6 games, falling to 4-7 in the BE, and hearing a few boos along the way as a whole lot of Providence fans are beginning to feel the way DePaul, St. John's, Seton Hall, and Rutgers fans are feeling, staking out the bottom of a 16-team conference and not even having football to enjoy...
the sky is not falling...yet**....if JW wants quality playing time, then he still knows where the right place is that even his dad can make it to all his games...

** although the sky appeared to be falling a couple days ago to some who bemoaned what had happened to AW, and then again a few weeks earlier when Sam M. had a couple bad games, etc, etc...

Agreed. Keno Davis is on the hot seat at Providence, why would any player sign with a team who's coach may not be there next year?

Wish we could get him (and all recruits!) here tonight... even if there's a *gasp* loss... the environment and crowd support would make you think twice about every other game you go see...

To see the amazing sights of Providence, RI? LOL!

In my eyes, without signing a letter, he is just like all the other recruits I see Bradley looking at in the Recruits section of this board. If we get him great, if not, we'll make due without him.

Providence doesn't scare me either. Struggling in the huge Big East conference vs. an almost guaranteed 4 or 5 finish in the Valley every year? Don't see him going to either school to be honest.

So let me understand....

JW has not returned phone calls from Dave Reynolds to talk about his situation and his upcoming "career" at BU.

JW will go across the country to visit a school that has no scholorships to give but he hasn't traveled two hours to see his future school / teammates play a game.

JW has never....to the best of my knowledge.....told anyone "on record" in the past 4-5 months that he is going to attend BU in the fall of 2010.

I will post a thousand I WAS WRONG messages on this board if JW ever puts on a BU uniform....

Maybe we should just bring up 3 years ago when we beat them in the NIT.... Who wants to get beat every game and play Uconn or Nova and just lose...

Bye bye John! What a recruiting class we have lined up for 2010-2011!

Stop with the panic mode.
As far as I can tell, Providence doesn't even have a scholarship for next year. This visit probably comes out of some contact Keno has in Iowa that suggested it, and I would bet JW does not end up at Providence.

As far as recruiting, let me assure everyone that Bradley is in on a lot of high quality kids right now for the 2010 class.

Not in panic mode at all. Just not real thrilled with how the roster projects right now in a year or two. Not ready to hit this yet...but it's coming....

Names, we need names of these high quality kids!

...if JW ever puts on a BU uniform....

after you've come back from the ledge...answer this for me...;)
do you think we should just give up and stop recruiting the kid??
do you know we miss on probably 80-90% of all the recruits we offer...and so does every other school....it's a fact of life..
but I think the coach knows best and he'll stay on the kid, and our chances are pretty good!

Anyway, at least for next year we have almost everyone back...(except Sam Singh & CRob)

Yes but our sophs better be good or we better have some more talented depth or we won't be in any better position.

I think we heard that last year 'We only lose Theron and Collins, but add Warren and Egolf'...
