Bradley lands a guard- Walter Lemon from Julian HS

tornado

Walter Lemon of Chicago Julian

many who have been talking behind the scenes knew of this talented kid, but now he's verballed to Bradley --
he is a great shooter, scorer...

Lemon was at a BU game earlier and is a decent kid - probably in some respects comparable to Diodie Dunson..can do it all, strong, and a decent rebounder..

In Julian's final game of the state playoffs...Walter scored 23 ...and I think he 29 in their previous game

Who says coach les can't recruit Chicago kids??

Congrats Walter, I have heard good things about him and his shooting abilities. 6'2 this is not going though to go over real well with the big man masses.

Regardless welcome to BU Walter.

Walter Lemon is one of the most underrated players to come out of Chicago in a while. He's a very talented PG/SG who played this season for Loren Jackson at Chicago Julian HS. He played at Chicago Fenger HS last year.

This kid will surprise Bradley fans with his athleticism and talent.

Walter Lemon was at the Wichita State game, and I had a chance to talk briefly with him. He was very impressed with the Bradley facilities and the crowd. Thanks to Eric Buescher, who had a lot to do with landing Walter Lemon.

I found some video on this kid a few days ago. Looks pretty good (though there was dunk he couldn't get to go and tin-cupped it a little going after it again and again)... Kinda reminds me of Josh Young which would be just
fine with me.

Welcome Walter!

Looks like this is CR's replacement. Another 4 year guy, which I like a lot. Sounds like he's a bit of a late bloomer, which I am fine with. It sounds like he's pretty explosive off the dribble, I hope he can shoot. We need more shooters.

Is he any relation to Meadowlark Lemon of the Harlem Globetrotters, the 'Clown Prince' of basketball?

As someone else mentioned his name, Josh Young was also a late bloomer and considered small...

See, this right here is what I was talking about in getting an under the radar player...

And yes, now I want my 6'9" 265 player

Some additional information- Bradley has been looking at Walter Lemon this past year, as well as a couple other uncommitted guards like Jay Harris of Oswego East who has become a hot commodity with a number of 30+ point games.
But the BU coaches liked Walter Lemon the most. The kid is an explosive athlete, can play either guard spot, and is a big-time scorer.
He was at the Wichita State game and had a great time. He also made an official visit to the campus this past weekend, but though they tried to get a commitment from him, he did not commit until this morning. The coaches are elated to get Walter Lemon.
ChicagoHoops.com has him at #24 in the 2010 class. However, some highly regarded talent evaluators in Chicago rate Lemon among to top 2 or 3 guards in Chicago for the class of 2010. One expert rates him comparable or higher than Mike McCall, who Bradley recruited and who signed with St. Louis.

It sounds like he really started to show his stuff towards the end of the AAU season last summer, and continued to get better this past season. I heard SIU was one of the schools who had also offered, do we know of any others?
