Bears release DE Alex Brown

I hope this doesn't come back to haint the Bears. He'll probably be an All-Pro for the Packers next season.
The Bears tried to trade Alex Brown, but with no takers, he was released today. He's 30 years old and was slated to make $5 million this year.

I thought when they drafted him he would be so much more but then again he probably had higher expectations then most 4th round draft picks. I was hoping for the next coming of Richard Dent.:-o

Sad day for me....Alex is a class individual who made 33 tackles for loss in the last 2 years compared to Peppers 32...he still has value and no-one on the roster has beat him out.....but 5 mil this season and 5.5 next season are killers! Good luck to AB where ever he goes! Who knows, he could have had 10 sacks this season with Peppers on the other side?

Ya I liked Alex. That could have been a good line with him and Peppers at the ends. Oh well.

Yeah, I guess it was a money-move... But the year's uncapped, isn't it? I understand if you want to see if you can get something in a trade, but he's a quality player so just cutting him doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

It is a money thing no doubt. You should see all the other players being released from all the other teams. The Bears if they want should be able to fill a few other spots with that money.

If they go get a Safety or a Offensive lineman I may be Ok with this. However Alex Brown and Lance Briggs are about the only two players I was happy with last year. So I hate to see it.
