I don't know about my favorite pizza, but my least favorite is Old Chicago. Maybe it's because I was raised on Uno's and Lou Malnati's, but that Old Chicago pizza does not deserve to have Chicago in its' name.

Can I possibly change my vote from last year? I had Monical's on Saturday and Aggie's on Sunday and I have to say Monical's was better.

not sure what I posted before...but after being on this diet thing for a couple weeks:

Avantis w/ Sausage, peperoni, and xtra cheese wold be good about now....

I miss the old LaHood's pizza when they were on the corner of Main & University (before Campustown).
They were the best and were never the same after LaHood's moved and morphed into LaGondola's......

I know this is ancient history for most guys on this board, but the Flamingo was one of the first places I had pizza. They were located across from the old Peoria police station on Adams. Olivers was originally using a recipe from the Flamingo and might still be doing so. Was so long ago that I don't remember what the Flamingo pizza tasted like, but it was great. Now when I'm in town I go to Olivers once a week, and their pizza is hard to beat.

Ah, the Flamingo. I remember it well. Lots of small crumbly bits of sausage and chopped up onions and green peppers. Delicious. Eat a Flamingo pizza and then head down to Paul's Circle Tap for the floor show. First pizza I ever had was at Armato's neighborhood grocery store on Bradley Ave. right near the campus. They made it there and sold it by the slice. We used to ride our bikes over from the East Bluff and blow our newspaper delivery money on that new fad called pizza. They had to be among the first in Peoria to sell it.

I missed out on the Flamingo, but I do pick up a pizza from Olivers almost every Sunday night through the winter. I'm more likely to be grilling during the warmer weather, but still manage to get Olivers a couple times a month.

Sorry you didn't like it T...but now there's one less person in line when I order from there next time! ;)

My sentiments exactly!!!! I love Firehouse pizza. I usually go to the one on Gale and Forrest Hill to watch games because they have TVs at every table. The deep dish is so delicious that I often find myself waddeling out to the car!

Tyroni's in Bartonville is the family favorite!!!

I grew up in Bville and remember Tyroni's as a little one room joint back in the day. Last time I was in Peoria went to Tyroni's ate in and the pizza was brutal. Burnt and just not flavorful.

With so many options on Peoria, next time Im in town I think this Firehouse or Olivers might be worth a try. Also, Davis Brothers is always good and used to like the Penguin Tap. Used to like Sullys pizza.

Houston has two options for pizza... crap and crappier. But we have Peoria beat on the Mexican food.

Mmmmmm......Mexican food! Jalapenos in the Metro Centre and Los Jimadores on University are both wonderful!

Sorry to get slightly off topic.....my mind wandered at the thought.

Anyway, I don't mind Firehouse but honestly the only reason I went there was because they had the gluten-free pizza, which is needed for my youngest son. Then Monicals started making a gluten-free pizza and he likes that a lot more than Firehouse. Works for me, since Monicals is one of my favorites!

I love the flavor, fire and spice of Mexican food. Maybe deserves a thread of its own. I lived in Albuquerque, NM for a little while - some called it the Green Chile Capitol. You could get it everywhere on everything. No lie - McDonald's even offered a Green Chile Burger.

We have great pizza places, and great Mexican here in Tulsa.

As far as Peoria goes, Agatucci's beats them all in my opinion. Monical's is another one of my family's favorites. Years and years ago, I used to love Pantera's pizza, but they've been gone probably 20-25 years at least now, so most of you probably don't remember them at all.

Here in Tulsa, the top 3 are Savastano's, Hideaway, and Bellacino's in that order.

Another poll on this subject should be NY or Chicago style? My GF and I when we go for pizza argue which style. She loves NY style and I lean towards Chicago deep dish. I'll eat anything really so she usually gets her way. Here in SF the pizza quality has gotten a ton better the last decade with a bunch of decent restaurants serving wood burning oven pizza, Neapolitan style.

The best Pizza in Peoria was when Lou Malnatti's was located at Sheridan Village. The place was always busy, but they closed due to poor management. The next best Pizza was when Uno's was located in the Mark Twain Hotel. We have no real good pan pizza in Peoria. Old Chicago makes a fair pan pizza, but it is pathetic compared to Malnatti's or Gino's East in Chicago. Agatucci's Pizza taste like tomato sauce on cardboard. I have never understood the passion some people have for their pizza. We used to be able to get a good wood fired pizza at Vonchen's Old Place at Junction City. Probably the best local (thin crust) pizza we have in Peoria is Monicals.

Best pizza I had growing up was from the old Pilot Club in Bartonville. I loved it when my parents made the trip to get it. I think they got bought out by the airport and closed. I am pretty sure Davis Brothers bought the recipe but ended up altering it. Now I am a big fan of the mega meat pizza from Double A's and the barbecue chicken pizza from Monicals.

Dave's Pizza in Bartonville is my favorite, but the Warehouse in Hanna City is a close second. Warehouse has great sandwiches as well, and is underappreciated in my opinion.
