BU Facilities

I have been following the construction of the new mens facility on the BU board. There has not been anything new in some time and considering they should be getting close I keep hoping to see new photos. Anyone have some pull and can get some new pictures up?

I was kind of curious. My son will be going to basketball camp this summer. I wondered if he would get to play a day in the new building.

The inside is nearing completion. Athletics will begin moving in this summer into fall. The Hall of Fame/museum portion may not be completely ready for the public when volleyball season starts and there will undoubtedly be some kinks the first few months.

Trustees were granted a walkthru during their spring quarterly meeting.

Can we get some current pictures posted for us out of town guys? They had been fairly frequent on the BU board until lately.

The University hasn't published any updates recently and outside of the media sneak peak in the last month or two, only a very few campus officials have been through.

As best I can tell the Construction Update page is either no longer active or has not been updated recently.

The only thing really new on the update page is the little story about the new arena floor being painted.

But you can bookmark the page or set up RSS and get official updates whenever they are posted.

Let me ask a stupid question.........what is the difference between the Puterbaugh Mens basketball facility and the Athletic Performance center? Is it one building or two?

There are supposed to be two gyms in the new facility. The Puterbaugh Mens basketball facility is an area where the men will practice which looks really nice and the Athletic Performance center would be the main court where the Women's team and the volleyball team would play their games. That is my understanding at least.

You are correct....there are 2 basketball courts!

When I first visit and tour the new facilities, I will be closely looking at the paint job done through out it:!: I know it will be top notch, as I know one of the painters who did the work;-) :D And he is a BIG BU FAN and BEAR FAN

Here's a question to ponder...... Could BU basketball be more profitable and create more demand that results in higher ticket costs by moving out of the PCC and into this new facility? Do any "insiders" know if this possibility has ever been discussed?

Granted, this new facility would only hold about half of the current attendance average but BU would keep ALL of the facility and ticket profits, create additional profit by charging for parking, and keep the profit from selling their own concessions. Not to mention a campus-owned facility would allow BU to call the scheduling shots instead of the PCC. The PCC could possibly be used for "big" games like the Michigan States, Utahs, etc. But really, how many "big game" teams does BU ever attract anyway.
