sporting news -very preseason top 25

I was just about to say this. It happens every year and I am sick of it.

That gives us a chance to fly under the radar...again.
I think #26 in the nation and picked to be 5th in the Valley is pretty respectable! :D
After we win a few cupcake non-conf. games, we'll get into the top 25, guys - don't worry!

Nice to see WSU ranked as they should be the favorites for next season. But absolutely ridiculous to see Butler ranked that low! Even without Hayward they should be a top 10 caliber team.

3 of the top 3 are Big Ten. Big East who? This will only add insult to injury over what the Big Ten is about to do to the Big East with expansion.

Butler is "pre-season" ranked a little too high. They won't be nearly as good a team without Hayward and unless you are drinking the kool-aid probably won't advance in the Dance, assuming that they even make it (remember, Horizon League)? They are "one & done" on the national stage (final 4). Good coach, good team, but let's be serious.....................not a national contender anymore......................very similar to Creighton, usually contending for conference championship but not much punch beyond.

This is hilarious. Butler a one and done on the National Scene???

1997: NCAA appearance
1998: NCAA appearance
2000: NCAA appearance
2001: Round of 32
2003: Sweet Sixteen
2007: Sweet Sixteen
2008: Round of 32
2009: NCAA Appearance
2010: National Runner-Ups

Yeah... they're one and done in the NCAA's... haven't missed the tourney for 4 years, are returning everybody but one player from a team that was a shot away from a national title, and have a history of success this decade. But you're right, 5 years of advancing in the tourney this decade, 3 sweet sixteens, and a national title game, but they're like Creighton and don't advance in the tournament... Get real dude, Butler is THE mid-major basketball program in Indiana, don't let your INSU fandom blind you. Butler will make it to the NCAA's this year guaranteed.

Let's be serious that Butler is a mid-major powerhouse that has built a winning foundation nearly beat National Champion Duke.
Why wouldn't they have a chance to contend next year?
Besides, it was Hayward who missed that easy half-court shot that could have won it for Butler last year.
I think they'll keep bringing in good recruits that fit their style of play.
If Butler doesn't make the Sweet 16, I'll be shocked.

Someone will have to agree with me that Butler wasn't expected to do what they did...and they wouldn't be able to do what they did again....they got hot and made a run....they wouldn't beat most of the teams they did consistently....they weren't the 2nd best team in the country!

OK whatever and Duke was not the best team in America either. Butler had to be considered on of the top 8 teams in the nation last year and with that anything is possible. Who was the top team anyway. I thought playing the games determined that???
