New Civic Center scoreboard

Maybe I'm missing something, but what are you guys referring to by End Zone displays...The new center-hung scoreboard will still include displays on all 4 sides. I'm pretty sure what they are referring to is the small scoreboards in the two corners of the arena, which I'm pretty sure no one pays any attention to anyway.

It doesn't mean no one wouldn't pay attention if there weren't two new displays. Similar to NBA arenas, they could scroll scores from around the league/around college basketball while the main board focuses on the game at hand. It's also an avenue for more advertising displays, which means more money.

I see what you mean, but personally, I have never paid attention to them, whether it be Rivermen or Braves games. I just don't think they will be any different then the ones there now. Simply score and sponsorship.

This is great news, I may or may not have seen a rendering, and I may or may not feel that people are going to really like it. ;)

Is this thing up and operational yet? Has anyone seen it? Seeing the new boards in the new BU facility really got me wanting to see the new boards at Carver and seeing just how much more modern they will make Carver look. After years of band-aids, it appears that we're finally enacting solutions. That's a good thing.

No they are not up yet. The board is set to be installed mid-late September before the first Rivermen preseason game (October 2nd).

Just so the video streamers know that the new board will help the stream.

Allegedly...

To me this is a load of BS. I've been to Butler games and Loyola games, which have no video board, plus I have common sense which makes me seriously question the legitimacy of this claim by the BU admin.

I am not doubting that a comment about the video board helping streaming was made, I just cant directly recall such a comment being made, but I also cannot believe that the video board would solely solve the issue. HOWEVER, I am under the impression that the PCC has bought new software and possibly new hardware that should aid in that.

There was also a comment about the sound earlier in this thread. The problem for the sound has been discovered and it has been fixed. Better yet, it was an extremely cheap fix.

Yes, if the new CC scoreboard is on par or better than the current boards at the new facility.....everyone will be extremely pleased....the boards at the new arena are as Tornado puts it...top notch.

What was the sound problem...and how was it fixed?

I am very excited to see just how much this new scoreboard and sideline boards help turn Carver from an outdated to a modern-feeling arena.

And I agree with T, the boards in BU's new facility are very nice!

I know you guys want to see the new scoreboard. So here ya go, a press release put out today by Daktronics shows a picture.

Isn't she a beaut? That screen is twice the size of the screen that previously existed, and is in full HD.

For anyone wondering, the stats for the basketball games and hockey games will be shown on the outsides during the games, and then replays will pry expand to utilize the whole screen.
