To my friends at Bradleyfans -- I want to say thank you for the support you have given me during my time as Bradley Braves Examiner. Due to personal obligations, including taking care of my 8-month-old son, I don't have the time to put into the site like I used to. Examiner.com is looking for very frequent posts, and I don't have the ability to do that anymore. Plus, living in Chicago makes it difficult to truly be at the heart of BU Athletics.

Examiner.com apparently assigned a new Bradley Braves Examiner. His name is Robert Hahn and you have probably seen his work with WMBD. His site is http://www.examiner.com/x-48269-Bradley-Braves-Examiner and I ask you to support him.

I hope that he provides deep coverage of the Braves 2010-11 Missouri Valley Basketball Championship team and of the rest of the Valley.

I still will be active on the boards, and I thank you so much again for the support!

GO BU!

Joe

Thanks for all you have done for BU basketball, Joe........I kinda have an idea how much work it is with a young family.. ;)

BUT -- I have a question -- regarding the new guy who is now writing as the Bradley Braves Examiner..
how can a guy whose screen name is "RobISU" really be a Bradley guy??

This same person posts frequently on one other central Illinois message board (he has over 25K posts and is their most prolific poster) and I reviewed his thousands of posts that are saved on that site...
and he hasn't posted on a single Bradley-related topic in months...
and he hasn't posted more than a half dozen actual comments about Bradley basketball in a four years span...
http://www.pjstarforums.com/board/s...posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

in that span he has literally 25,000 posts on all kinds of topics from high school ball, baseball, and Illinois State, to scores and reports, etc...but the sum total of all the actual comments he's made about Bradley could easily fit on a postcard.
So I probably won't be checking in very often on your old Examiner site...

Ordinarily, I'd say this sounds like good news. However, according to the bio for Robert Hahn, he is also known as RobISU- he's an ISU grad, an ardent ISU fan, and a frequent poster on area bulletin boards. Though he seems passionate about sports, he is an ISU fan, not a Bradley fan.

Why would examiner have an ISU guy write about Bradley? I find that outrageous!

I would suggest that true Bradley fans ignore this site until they get a real Bradley fan to report on Bradley sports.

Rob Hahn is an ISU grad and is anti-BU. As great a job as Joe did with the Examiner.com articles, having an ISU person covering the team would only be right if a Bradley person was covering ISU.

I would be okay with an unbiased third party covering the team as long as the person was fair and accurate. I don't see how an ISU fan could possibly be unbiased or fair when covering Bradley.

yeah-- it's about as weird as having a passionate ISU fan run a Bradley message board, right?
...excuse me while I go and start up a brand new ISU message board and blog of my own...just checking the police reports alone will keep me busy...

and good for him...but just how badly do Bradley fans need to be fed info from a pseudo-Bradley blog written by an ISU fan who has had nothing - not one word - to say about Bradley in years??

Thanks for the kind words.

I don't know how he became the new Bradley Examiner. I contacted Examiner to tell them I was taking a break, and would start writing again after the summer was over. My summer is busy with the little guy running around, and taking exams for a master's course. They wrote me back saying it wasn't a problem.

The next thing I know, there is a new Bradley Examiner. The site is regionalized, and they recently added Peoria to their geographic stable, so I'm guessing that this is the reason they added a Bradley Examiner. I was based out of their Chicago region because they didn't have Peoria when I started.

As far as he being an ISU guy, there isn't anything we can do. If he starts to show ISU bias, the simple answer is don't read his site. I wish I would have known Examiner was going to do that... I could have recommended somebody for them. I'm sure someone on the site here (tornado) would have done a fabulous job.

I might still write an article or two and submit them for inclusion on T's award-winning blog... otherwise, I'll just be a board contributor.

Thanks again -- :)

feel free...blogging is hard work but it needs to be done or else those powerful, loudmouth bullies and biased media folks would have the run of the world...

Yes, the biased media ran the world long before the invention of the internet. Thank God for bloggers. How did we ever get by before them.
