Brand New NCAA Academic Data

tornado

Bradley's academic data (APR) is great!!!
four different programs with 1000, 13 of 14 programs are 960 or better..

Here are the Valley basketball numbers for APR

BU 960
CU 956
Drake 972
UE 952
ISU 961
InSU 935
Missouri State 908 (see below)
UNI 946
SIU 950
WSU 961

Some other basketball programs..
Butler 1000
DePaul 987
Indiana 878 !! (hard to believe they are being penalized)
Arkansas 886
Kentucky 954
Tennessee 935
Liberty 918 (Richie McKay legacy)
Alabama Birmingham 925
Colorado 897 (penalty 1 scholarship)
Maryland 913 (how do they NOT get penalized??)
New Mexico 923 (likewise - the Richie McKay/Alford effect)
Oklahoma 948 (still some Kelvin Sampson effect)
Southern Mississippi 890 (Larry Eustachy, you listening??)

Mountain West is terrible - 6 programs under 950, FIVE under 925 which is the bottom 10th percentile!!

Schools receiving immediate penalties:
Missouri State - loss of 1 basketball scholarship

Southern Mississippi 890 (Larry Eustachy, you listening??)...

yikes -- Southern Miss had one of the WORST APR scores in all of NCAA Division I...
yet the local newspaper there in Hattiesburg touts this as a great achievement for Coach Eustachy!!
Their standards are really a whole lot lower than Bradley's !!!!!!!

Here's the article...

"Southern Miss receives solid APR report"
Fifteen of the 16 teams in the Southern Miss athletic department exceeded the minimum standard.."
http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/article/20100610/SOUTHERNMISS/100609016

They're bragging about all but one of their programs above the flunking level of 925 -- while Bradley had all but one of it's teams above 960!!
And not one of the So. Miss teams was close to 1000 like several of BU's...

Of the 14 programs in the MVC that scored 1000 on the APR - four of them were at Bradley!!

BTW -- check this out.......
Western Illinois' academic performance had been horrid leading up to the hiring of Jim Molinari...

BUT -- this year - the men's basketball team posted a 1000!!!!! which helps tremendously
since had they not shown this improvement they would have been docked scholarships....

One more note...the figures on the sortable data base are the four year averages...but if you compare the Valley basketball programs
looking at the most recent year's data (2008-2009), then Bradley has the MOST impressive numbers and the BEST!!
Also - it is widely known that the academics are even better this year (2009-2010) so the report will be good next year as well.
http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/apr2009/72_2009_apr.pdf

This year's numbers on Valley basketball
Bradley 980
UNI 980
WSU 980
Drake 979
Creighton 960
SIU 957
Evansville 932
Illinois State 924 (below the failing point!)
Indiana State 923
Missouri State 865

and if the 2008-2009 data alone is looked at, then SEVEN different programs at BU scored 1000!!!
Men's Cross Country, Men's Golf, Women's Cross Country, Women's Basketball, Women's Golf, Tennis, and Volleyball!!

ILSU beats BU, interesting...

First - the numbers are virtually identical -- 960 vs 961....both very good --
and the difference is only because the players graduating in the four years (thru 2009) that are included - are players that Porter Moser recruited and BU had one player leave for the NBA and that dropped us a bit..

but note this...
for the academic year 2008-2009 BU is 980 while ISU is 924...
and recall 924 is under the failure rate - so if they keep that up they're gonna lose scholarships..
