Summer exhibition tours already started

Southern Utah has THREE Australians on their team - so this tour is kinda payback for those guys and will work as a future recruiting tool if they want to keep landing the Aussies...

A D-II school from Minnesota, Saint John's University (not the one in New York) is currently in Italy -- they won their first game then lost their 2nd game which was played against a U19 group (mostly 18-19 year olds!)

Here's a real weirdo thing....St. John's took almost their ENTIRE 24-man roster to Italy and all of them are playing in these games!!
(yes, that's correct, they list 24 players on their basketball roster and 20 are on the tour)

Also - Kentucky just announced they are going to Canada this summer

(btw- note the article also says UK's athletic dept. budget is almost $80 million - more than 25 times BU's budget - and they're gonna have to consider raising ticket prices. it also talks of building a NEW arena in downtown Lexington!)

and Bucknell leaves in a little over a week to go to Italy

A touring team of US college players are currently in China playing for Sports Reach and they won their first game vs. the Bayi Rockets 87-75.
SIU's Carlton Fay had 2 pts, 7 rebs, while NIU's Sean Kowal had 6, Xavier Silas 9.

The St. John's team mentioned above (this is the D-II St. John's from Minnesota) won their first game but then has lost their last two..

Game 2 in China complete and US loses to Bayi Rockets - few details yet...
but Bayi scored at the buzzer on a banked-in 3-pointer to win 77-76, Jon Hood 13 pts, Josh Harrelson 10.
Carlton Fay just 3 pts.

game 3 in China for the touring Sports Reach team is also a loss, 84-80..so the Americans drop to 1-2, as Carlton Fay scores 6...

Pepperdine just completed a 10-day tour to Italy, going 3-1 --
Pepperdine lost its first game to Romana Basket Anagni, 90-83, but came back to win three straight games over CUS Siena, 92-53, Texa Roncado, 87-71 and Sangiorgese Basket, 82-76...all are lower division Italian pro teams who are not playing with full rosters due to being off-season...
One Pepperdine player, Keion Bell, averaged over 23 ppg!

The Sports Reach team has now played 5 games in China and is 3-2 after a narrow 78-77 win in Shizu, China...

Carlton Fay had just 4 pts & 2 rebs in this 5th game to bring his averages over the five games to 4.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg....

Here's a pic of CFay making a basket in yesterday's game..

In the sixth game in China, the US team (Sports Reach) loses 88-81...to even them up at 3-3, with a deciding 7th game coming up..

In game 6, Carlton Fay got the US team off to a great start, scoring 7 points early to help the US take a 9-2 lead...
but later in the 2nd half, the US fell behind by 14 and couldn't close the gap..
Final totals showed Carlton Fay hitting 4-7 & 2-3 from beyond the arc for 11 pts, 5 rebs..
Josh Harrellson of Kentucky who was once a WIU commit and now rides the pines behind guys like DeMarcus Cousins & Daniel Orton at UK...had 17 pts, and 17 rebounds.
The two NIU guys, Xavier Silas (scoreless) and Sean Kowal (2 pts) continued cold, while Tennessee walk on Skylar McBee (14 pts) and Louisville PG Peyton Siva 13 pts) had good games.
The US outrebounded the Chinese 45-30 and the Chinese had a horrible day at the FT line (going only 16-35!) but the Chinese's 56% shooting from the field was way better than the Americans' 40.5% from the field.

Bucknell leaves today for 4 games in Italy..one of the teams they are scheduled to play is Reyer Venezia, which has Kiwane Garris, and ex-Illini

the 7th game of their tour is in the books, and the US squad wins convincingly, 97-62
Carlton Fay had 10 points in the first quarter, and ended with 10 pts, 2 rebs...
Fay's averages were 6.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg for the 7 games...

Carlton Fay's team has now played a Russian team that's also on tour in China,
and won 98-78..
Fay had his best game by far, scoring 21 pts, 6 rebs...

Bucknell plays four games in Italy over a 10-day span..
their first game was a huge blowout win, 78-41 over Virtus Basket Aprilia. This opponent is described as a C-Division team (the 4th level in Italy - roughly on par with high school teams at the "Y") that is very small,

as you can see, in Italy alone there are 96 different "C-Division" teams...so his one doesn't sound like much competition even for Bucknell.

Missouri State's Kyle Weems is also playing for an AIA team that is coached by Missouri State assistant Kent Williams...

the other players on the 12-member team are...
Garrett Stutz and Toure Murry of Wichita State, and R.J. Mahurin of Indiana State, Preston Medlin (Utah State), Joe Bertrand (Illinois), Aleksander Marcius (Purdue), Levi Knutson (Colorado), and Baylor regulars A.J. Walton and Cory Jefferson. Two native Poles, Hubert Radke and Marek Popiolek, will also be joining the U.S. players when they arrive in Poland on May 29.

The team is already 3-0 having beaten Team Asseco 101-81 (Weems had 10) in game 1,
and Team Selesia 94-88 in game 2 (Weems had 14).
Game 3 was an 85-72 win over Asseco with Weems getting 12

Watch out for Pitt! They were impressive last season with a young core - led by a really good coach, Jamie Dixon.
