Men's Facility Dedicated...

And just imagine if he would have been able to stick around for another 3 or 4 years...oh what could have been. Thanks, weak administration and NCAA.

But regardless, an incredibly nice gesture by Heisley. Great to see how respected JJ is in the organization.

You forgot to include a whiny booster or two......

The PJ Star's Jane Miller posted this expanded article about the dedication of the men's practice facility-
???J.J.??™ HOLDS COURT AGAIN

note all the superlatives aimed JJ's way -- I am really proud of Mitchell and of Bradley -- this is a great honor..

Hey -- I have a trivia question BUT ...
ONLY FOR THOSE WHO ATTENDED BRADLEY AFTER 1990..........since it would be too easy for the old guys...

Here's the quesiton --
How did Mitchell JJ Anderson get his nickname "JJ"...

and DON'T give a verbal answer -- just post a picture or a link to a picture that will show the answer......

I know... I know...

Honestly....many of the newbies probably don't know and have never heard why he has that nickname,
and even if you tried to explain -- they'd say they've never heard of that....
so frankly I am surprised that even though his nickname has been in every news release...
nobody's given an explanation of it.......so we will......... but we'll give someone a chance to guess first!

ps-- I even did a google search for "Mitchell Anderson" and the reason he has the nickname and there are NO hits that connect the two...
so obviously nobody has discussed it in a searchable source since the beginning of the internet era!

Mitchell Anderson in his playing days at Bradley. He bore a resemblance to a popular TV character named "J.J."-

Actor Jimmy Walker playing the character named "J.J." on a popular1970's TV show titled "Good Times".-

Does anyone remember JJ's favorite phrase from the TV show "Good Times"?
Dy-no-mite!

Here is Jimmy Walker's home page, and the URL is dynomitejj.com-

Looks like Jimmy played a little basketballl himself- note also David Letterman on the left of this picture of the 1979 Comedy Store Bombers Basketball Team-

awwww...Coach, you spoiled it!!!

but yes, he was nicknamed "JJ" because his tall, skinny features resembled one of the really popular TV characters of the era of the late 1970's,
who was portrayed by actor Jimmy Walker...........

More trivia questions....
Rank these players in order of who had the higher ROOKIE NBA scoring average...
MVP Steve Nash, John Starks, Mitchell Anderson, Hersey Hawkins

and rank these guys on rebounds per game their rookie years...
Ben Gordon, MVP Dirk Nowitzki, Toni Kukoc, Dennis Rodman, Kevin McHale, Mitchell JJ Anderson....

You might be surprised........each list of options are ranked in reverse order...
JJ actually had a decent NBA rookie year, and in 52 games with Utah had 9 ppg, 5.4 rpg...
too bad he was not given the opportunity to play much after that...........

While in Utah to watch the Braves play in the NCAA some of us went to the Salt Palace to watch the Jazz play. I had my BU Braves hat on. A girl at the concession stand asked me what a BU Brave was. When I told her Bradley, she said she never heard of Bradley before. I asked her if she ever heard of JJ. She said he was one of her favorites because he was always friendly with everybody who worked there. She said she will be rooting for the Braves the next day against Louisville. JJ was and still is a great ambassador for Bradley. Thanks JJ

Thanks Chico for that story, as it provoked really great memories of staying in the hotel in Utah with the Bradley team and enjoying the mountains out there that week BU knocked off UTEP and almost nabbed eventual tourney winner Louisville.

I still have pictures of that beautiful area, the victory celebation at the hotel after the Braves beat UTEP and of course the cheerleaders, led by Barbie, building a pyramid outside the arena at Weber St in Ogden.

Mitchell Andersons other nickname

Mitchell Andersons other nickname

T---What most people don't know is that Dick V. had another nickname for Mitchell A. Dick called him "Mickey" because DV said that was what his Mother called him---Not "JJ".

A great "addition" to the new facility. BU's NBA team, and its owner did a very nice thing.

Great job by everyone involved.

And to think - I'm the x-rated one with my avatars of (mostly) women with a musical agenda.
Usually don't respond to your posts but had to now
Yes, you were the x=rated one with the avatar I complained about a couple years back. I would do it again. Didn't thnk you would think our cheerleaders building a pyramid was x=rated.
