Bu soccer wins...MVC Tourney

Reminds me of softball beating Creighton at the Eastside Centre a year ago.

We definitely need to host more MVC Tournaments here...:)

KUDOS to the Braves soccer team....playing a man down thru most the 2nd half and 2 O/T's and still winnining in the 7th round of the shoot-out! On the the NCAA tourney!

After we withstood the wind and sun in the first half, I had high hopes for that second half, until Gaul got the red card. To be down a man for 35+ minutes and to not only keep the tie, but to actually challenge SIUE defensively, now that was pretty amazing. What's more amazing is that this is a team that has only 2 seniors, one of which is a backup goalkeeper, and is pretty much 2/3's or so underclassmen. Congratulations guys, let's make some noise in the tourney!

wow what a finish... playing with 10 players in the 2nd half and still coming out with a W. A rebuilding year??? I wish JL had a rebuilding year and still won a MVC tourney!

Funny you should mention that. This is now five trips to the Big Dance under DeRose in 13 seasons! Not a bad record, and something I'm still hoping for for our men's basketball team. Maybe wishful thinking in light of losing TB, but the goal still needs to remain the same.

Regarding our soccer team, Creighton usually gets more of the national press in the regular season, but DeRose "out Creighton'ed Creighton" by getting his teams prepared for the Valley tourney throughout the year, just like Dana Altman did during his tenure coaching the Creighton men's basketball team. And because of this, our soccer team has a knack for peaking at the right time by pulling off upsets late in the season and winning the MVC tourney more often than not. We may not have the best record during the Valley regular season most years, but we seem to be the most dangerous team come postseason, and that says something about coaching, and our player's tenacity and drive which in turn has made Bradley one of the best programs in the Valley and one of the most consistent programs in the country.

Again, hope to see this rub off on our basketball team this year, particularly by winning in St. Louis. :)

winning weekend

winning weekend

Congratulations To The Soccer Team !!! :D

Good luck, keep the streak going!

This is how I define a winning weekend.........

BU men's basketball wins Friday night
BU women's basketball wins Saturday afternoon
BU volleyball wins Saturday night
Illinois basketball wins Saturday night
Da Bulls win Saturday night
Da Bears win Sunday afternoon
and BU Soccer wins, caps it all off by winning the MVC Tournament Sunday afternoon to advance to the NCAA tournament........

:D

Gaul will miss the first NCAA Tourney game. The projected bracket on NCAA website showed BU at Tulsa on Thursday with the winner advancing to play at Indiana on Sunday.

The box score is pretty obscure on the penalty kicks...so just to give our guys their props...
here are the players who made their tiebreaker penalty kicks...
#22 Christian Meza - scored on his kick
#10 Keith Mach - missed just inches wide to the left
#14 Aodhan Quinn - nice kick but a great save by the GK
#7 Bobby Smith - scored on his kick
#9 PND's Rudy Garcia - scored on his kick
#12 Keegan Balle - scored on his kick

SIUE's web site has some very good photos in their photo gallery that's accessible here:
