This is funny --in Stansbury's prepared press release Monday -- he brags on how strong his discipline is!
"it’s time to move on and learn from these mistakes...
...by sending Sid and Elgin home following the incident, a strong message was sent that this type of behavior is unacceptable.”
"..the disciplinary action that was taken sends a strong message to these young men, and all of our student-athletes, that inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.”
He might have thought briefly of suspended Sidney longer, except in the two games Renardo Sidney sat out -- Mississippi State was HORRIBLE...
they first had an 11 pt loss to low-major Hawaii, then an embarrassing 22 point loss to St. Mary's..
So - it's obvious they need help!!
....all of their wins this season so far are over really low-mid-majors!
btw-- for the rumor file...
there's several discussions by Mississippi State fans on their boards...of how Renardo Sydney kinda has MSU & coach Stansbury by the you-know-what..
First -- he's talented and he's now finally eligible so of course the coach absolutely needs him...
.....But -- Just about everyone knows Sydney has been on the take and got freebies during the recruiting process...
so if he ever gets booted from Mississippi State and decides to blab to the NCAA then bolt to the NBA-- like I said,
everyone knows that Sydney could easily
"bring the whole program down" with what he could say
...so the coach sure doesn't want to get Sydney upset!!
But if you think I am being a little harsh on Stansbury or Sydney -- then read ESPN's Pat Forde...he really states it bluntly..
"The coach of the Bulldogs has turned this season into a mockery in an effort
to mollycoddle his 6-foot-10 prep All-American."
"(Stansbury) .. who already has a poor reputation among his SEC peers is coaching like a desperate man."
"He gerrymandered the Mississippi State schedule, jamming in December games in order to get Sidney and junior guard Dee Bost (eligible) .. The result was an absolute joke: five games in five days in mid-December ..State took five losses in that silly stretch."
"(Mississippi State's football coach) ..Dan Mullen just took 100 football players to Jacksonville for Mississippi State’s bowl game without incident and played brilliantly against Michigan. But Rick Stansbury’s 15 basketball players couldn’t get through a trip to Hawaii without three suspensions and player-on-player violence in a public setting."
