Bradley 68 Evansville 54 stats

I saw very few empty seats among the season ticket seats, so I think that estimate is a bit low. That was easily the best crowd other than the ISU game.

Gotta agree with Braveman here...about 7500-8000 actually in the building. DC, 1/3 of your section was empty! How does that happen when someone pays that much for those seats?

As far as the game goes, BU continues to peak at the right time of the year. This was what I was hoping/expecting to see the whole league season. DSE is really 'getting it' and turning into a guy who could be all-MVC by the time he graduates. Just an awesome game for him. In the 2nd half he got the ball and acted like he was the best guy on the floor. Great to see. JP continues to improve, I wish he got the ball more. Jake doesn't give you much offensively, but was very active defensively. Andrew Warren really never got in the flow...and still score 17 in 24 minutes. This team is more than watchable again. I think JL said it right on the postgame when he said the staff could only say so much positively - they had to get a 'W' to believe it. Once they got the 'W' against CU, the level of play has gone up exponentially compared to earlier in the league season. Honestly, we should be talking about 5th or 6th right now instead of 9th or 10th.

Overall, a fun game, as the last 4 have all been. But it breaks your heart when you see this group is 9-17. They shouldn't be. But a fun game to attend, and a fun one for the alums who came down for the weekend.

I can't wait to hear about how someone at the local rag tells readers this was a game between 2 really bad teams.

Oh, wait... Evansville isn't a really bad team, right? They have a few more wins than a couple really bad teams in the MVC.

Butts in seats was closer to 7500 I would guess.. Good scrappy game by the Braves.. DSE was good after slow start.. Very choppy game with officiating...

Good effort on boards....

I also disagree...I stood and surveyed the crowd and saw only a handful of empty seats with BUTTS in the seats all the way to the TOP ROW along both sidelines and also on the north end of the arena..

This was a great crowd, clearly over 10K.....

BUT did you see this comment in our local press??

per Kirk Wessler...
".. an Alumni Weekend crowd announced as 10,019, easily the largest
and most enthusiastic gathering of the season at Carver Arena."

I sit in upper bowl- there were many empty seats... no way were there 10,000 plus there tonight.....

And just because most of the "season ticket" seats were filled doesn't mean that the 10,000 is legit...

Of course there were empty seats -- it wasn't a sell out -- 10K is still almost 1.5K short of a sellout.
...so I guess if you are sitting in the middle of 1,500 empty seats you might have a different perspective
than those who are sitting in the middle of 10,000 occupied seats....

...and are you saying the walk up crowd bought a bunch of tickets, then chose not to sit in those seats?
Just who, among non-season ticket holders would buy a bunch of seats and then not use them?

If you want to see a crowd that is exaggerated, check this one out last night in B-N...

Here are the only photos available from the PJ Star. The seats look pretty full to me-

We might have some more pictures later that show the crowd, and it will be even more obvious that the lower bowl was pretty full with few no-shows.

I continue to be amazed by the attendance-minimizers we always have among our fan base. It seems like an obsession to some to rush home after games and post about how small the attendance was. Then when they are disputed and cannot provide any proof for their low estimates, they run over to the other board that nobody looks at and take their shots at the good fans here who are telling it like it is.

No matter who's attendance figures we use, even if we believe the minimizers, Bradley is still drawing the 3rd highest attendance in the conference, despite losing their 2 MVC preseason All-Conference players, despite losing their first 11 games and sitting in last place, and despite the terrible weather and economy this area has been strapped with this winter. They are drawing significantly better than a 1st place team (Missouri State), and drawing many thousands per game more than any other team in the MVC other than CU and WSU! That shows tremendous support for this team, and I challenge anyone to show a "last place team" anywhere in America that gets this kind of support. To the dismay of the negative-nellies and the Debbie-downers, this team is well supported and is putting things together at the right time. IMO, the future looks good.

Well, the Cubs beat us in attendance for bad play, and they get much earlier in the season, "mathematically eliminated" articles than we do, too.

Now back to game play, While JP needs to keep improving his D, If he got a few more minutes and more touches per minute, he'd be putting up monster numbers!
And perhaps a side effect of Drew in foul trouble, but I loved, in the 2nd half that everyone continued playing their scrappy best, even after we got a 10 point lead, we didn't let up! I think everyone knew they could never relax and wait for Drew. And of course the lead let JL bring in the bench at the end. That's how games are supposed to end!

I would agree but more in the upper bowl then we have had all season except for ISU game. I would say closer to 8500-9000 actual then 10,000 but a lot more then 7500.
Great crowd and they actually made some noise tonight. It would be nice to see that for the last 2 home games.

Ive only missed 2 home games since about 1992.....so Ive seen a fair number of crowds at PCC....there had to be quite a bit more than 7500 people at this game...when I walked in about 1 minute before tip..the first I said was "Wow, Big Crowd tonight"...Im thinking easily 9500+, and wouldn't be surprised if it was actually 10,000.

Just my opinion from observation.

I thought the crowd was definitely bigger than 7500. It was a bigger crowd than teams with better records seem to draw! I also believe we continue to see why JE should be getting more minutes than WLJ at this point! I wish we had more coaches' sons on the team as he seems to be the "smartest" player on this team.

Great win Braves!

For me I think the play of the year occurred around the 8 minute mark and Bradley rebounded 3 or 4 missed shots and set the play up all over again. That series was capped off finally by a 3 pointer from DSE (I think) and a standing ovation from a loyal BU crowd that's been looking for that kind of effort and scrappiness all year. I know it brought me out of my seat from in front of the computer. :)

I dont know what the actual attendance was....

But it was awfully impressive for a last place team.

I had said previously that attendance would be awful in February, and so far, at least, I have been wrong.

That said..Comments like "Excitement is at an all time high" bring about people pointing out empty chairs

That was a great play....padded our rebounds but shot out shooting % in the foot. We got 4 boards but shot 1-4. :)

Yeah, but even if we were competing for a championship, it's unlikely we would have sold out a game against Evansville. The next two games, yes. But still anything over 10,000 is pretty darn good for a team with a 3-12 conference record! That says loads about our fanbase.

BU has a GREAT fanbase......that is undeniable. But that fanbase has been staying home in alarming numbers...also undeniable.

BU is playing well and the fans are coming back.....

We haven't had over 10K in the seats yet this year......beat UNI and Sat. against the Drake and I bet we get there.

I'd like to see it happen against UNI but Tuesday.......might be a tall order.

And I would argue about the attendance for E-Ville IF we were competing for 1st place......if we were tied with WSU and MSU right now we'd be getting 10k almost every game IMO.

Last nights attendance was amazing for a team in last place, I would guess there was close to 10,000 which shows how much BU basketball means to the community, now it is time to start rewarding these fans with championships as it has been way too long to go without one.

Hardly a good sample on the photos....(I am not sure if I am being called a minimizer, I merely said I thought the crowd was not at 10,000 plus. And as far as proof goes- where is the proof that there were 10,019? Because it was reported in the paper? The same one that is filled with anti-BU rhetoric and hate?)Say what you will.. I talked to a 20 plus year season ticket holder who is giving up seats, and I personally have been offered lower bowl seats to nearly every game this year...

I am not interested in spinning anything- I merely stated I didn't think there were 10,000 plus in the seats... Sheesh...

BMan...Clearly there were not 10,000 butts in seats.

I mean if someone wants to bet there were only 19 no shows...Ill bet my house on that one
