Remy Abell Update

There are other high majors contacting him, and I suspect people will be surprised where he will end up.

Thanks DC I sure wish he'd wait till he meets our new coach but not holding my breath.

He just may have to wait if he likes or not. BU does not have to release him even though they will but at their time an place, which will be after they sign a coach.

I know what you are saying, but if we drag this release request out for a prolonged time, then we will have difficulty in the recruiting area for quite a while. jmho

Ben I have to disagree on this one. If you do not release him and do not keep him inform then there maybe issues. If you drag it past the spring signing period then there could be repercussions.

I'm with SFP on this as well. BU must protect the integrity of the signing process while being mindful of this kid's well-being. I expect BU to have a new head coach within 2 weeks and it is only prudent on BU's part to allow this kid to talk to the new coach; this would be in everybody's best interest without being an obstructionist. Now, if BU can't get a new HC in place within the next few weeks and this drags out then I do agree that BU needs to release the kid from his LOI.

Remy's Eastern squad just wiped out Clark County 65-50 but it was a 20+ point margin much of the way after the mid-3rd quarter... to reach the Final Four...
Remy - 13, Gaines 17, Woods, 12

I also expect Bradley to have a new coach within 2 weeks so hopefully Remy will at least meet with him and give him a chance because with all that has transpired Remy could come in and get a lot of playing time which is so much better then getting only a few minutes a game with somebody else.

Just my opinion without anything to back this up, but I bet that Abell asks for and gets his release before that 2 week time frame.:(

Yeah let's hold these kids hostage while we wait for our new coach to be named - that's a GREAT idea.

Hold him hostage? He he signed a LOI and the Spring signing is a few weeks away. His handlers can speak to whomever they like. Releasing him now would not do us any good. We will have to release him at some point but why not after he speaks to our new coach? Imagine usuing a contract to your advantage?

if he wants to go, I'd let him go. Does BU no good to play hard ball with these kids. Now, I think we should hold kids to their LOIs but, again, doesn't do us any good in the end.

JMHO

1. If a school fires a coach, then any incoming player signed for the next year should be automatically released to sign anywhere. It is the fair thing to do to the incoming player who committed to the school and the coach.

2. If a school fires a coach, then the institution should not be able to grant a release to an eligible player currently on the team until the school hires a new coach. This is fair to the school and the player.
