BU needs a Brad Stephens

Agreed, I always laugh at posts like these. I love Butler BBall, have for years, but people act like its simple, if it were everyone would do it.

And Butler being in a worse conference actually helps them, lol.

Yeah...stupid me for wanting a good coach.

I never said it was easy. I just want a good hire. I'm tired of people saying BU can't make NCAA runs on a semi-regular basis.

....should Brad Stevens get a $2-3 million offer from Tennessee...
but he's the guy right now that I'd go hardest after...

IMO, that would be a very bad career move for Stevens. He does not fit in with the flamboyant, win at all costs attitude of Tennessee fans. He also does not recruit the overly athletic and flashy player, plus his style of game is less entertaining than what they are accustomed to. I think he'd end of being run out of town if he didn't win 70%+ of his games.

I think that JD was saying that Stephens is a coach that gets the job done. He is at a midmajor school and conference, but has got the right players for his system. Butler has been the cream of the horizon for awhile. Braves fans want similar things and I don't think anyone thinks it is so easy to do.

Butler's top assistant is Matt Graves -- his name has been mentioned in regard to the BU job --
but he'd also be the guy who would take over Butler should Brad Stevens get a $2-3 million offer from Tennessee...

Anyway -- IU Hoosier fans want Stevens...

I could definitely see Stevens leave for a lot more money next season because Mack will be gone and it will be his best opportunity if he ever plans on moving up.

Unfortunately, some "fans" choose not to. :(
what?? some folks choose "not to" treat the new coach in some way??
we don't even have a clue who the new coach is and nobody has treated the new guy in any way whatsoever...and yet somehow you see someone treating the new coach unfairly?? Wow -- you'll sure win arguments with that kind of reasoning...

Boy. Someone likes to take a quote out of context. smh...... :?

What other context is there in which to take that?

I'm getting really tired of being told that because I don't agree with treating a great AD like cr@p, an alum and at least moderately successful coach like cr@p, and defending a kid who gave BU his all that I am somehow a lesser fan. By the same folks who constantly demeaned our coach all season. Sorry B4L, nothing was taken out of context there.

why in the world would a new coach be "under the gun" the first year?

Most logical, educated, and fair-minded people understand this lefty. Unfortunately, some "fans" choose not to. :(

^^ Since the above was not good enough, I can't wait to see something better. And since I keep hearing about how the above team was only only good enough for a last place finish, JG/MC should have no problem finding a coach who can build a better team right away.

I'm confident that won't be a problem. I'm just anxious to see what a handful of this board's posters have to say after year 3. It should be fun. There's a distinct minority of loud posters on this board that like to push their agenda. The majority of us see it for what it is.

I actually think we won't finish last -- as long as Jank & Lowery stay around..but as to whether we'll be better than 5th any time in the next 5 years --
let's see if the "fire Jim Les" crowd suddenly lower their standards....

The only people who lowered their standards were the ones who for some reason thought maxing out in the 4-5 game every year was acceptable.

I am going to call this an exaggeration...I know a lot of fans, and nobody I know ever said 4th or 5th place was acceptable. If you can find a single example of this, point it out.

I do know a lot of intelligent fans who aren't blind enough to think injuries played a major part in the finish by Bradley each of the last 4 seasons.
And that Jim Les was as capable as anyone to bring Bradley back to the top of the MVC next year. Let's see how close we get with a new coach.

What evidence is there to support this?

only the "fire whoever is in there" crowd can answer that -- it seems to be many of the same people now as in 2002...they are never happy
