Kyle Julius

Does anyone know why Kyle Julius is not with the ICC men's basketball team this year? He was one of their top scorers last year as a freshman. But I have heard he transferred to Santa Fe junior college in Gainesville, Florida. He was from Naperville, so it wasn't so he could be closer to home. I remember Tony Wysinger saying Julius had a D 1 shooting stroke, and he looked pretty good in some games. I saw him score in the 30s a couple times last year. I think ICC will miss some of his shooting this year.

I have heard some things, and some of them have been discussed before in regard to the prolific turnover of players at ICC and lots of them staying only one year and leaving with juco eligibility remaining.
Santa Fe is a D-I junior college, and they offer better scholarship aid than D-II junior colleges do.
My guess is that Kyle took advantage of a better offer.

Well, ICC's Kyle Julius has surfaced at Santa Fe Community College
(Gainesville, FL)
And a new Rivals story says this about him and a recent offer from Eastern Illinois University:

"Illinois Central transplant Kyle Julius..... averaged 17 points per game last season (at ICC) and is capable of really filling it up.
"Kyle is not just a set shooter," Mowry said. "He comes off screens and can knock down shots."
Eastern Illinois is hoping to get Julius back near his home of Naperville."

hey -- it's been a few years and Kyle Julius finished out his juco and collegiate career elsewhere at North Central College (Naperville, IL) after leaving ICC...

but did you see he is in the news??

He is playing professional poker and doing fairly well...

He was in 10th place in chip count just a couple days ago...

but he has now slipped and is out, finishing in 50th place...earning $26,800 -- but losing his $10,000 buy-in

Here's Kyle at the event...

Older brother Ryan also plays professional poker and I believe has done quite well for himself. I believe he's still in the Peoria area also. He was a heck of a ball player at Haussler and probably could have been a good player at DII/DIII/Juco if he wanted to.

MML -- you're right correct on all counts. Ryan tried out as a walk-on at BU and wasn't kept on. A local kid was kept instead. Ryan definitely could have done well at other collegiate levels.

Kyle worked out for Florida a few times and had some sort of conditional offer that didn't work out for various reasons.

Both are doing great in poker, especially in the virtual world.
