Thanks for the article from Baltimore. Thank goodness that nobody from the Valley was on the selection committee last year or we would never hear the end of it. By pointing out that 6 of the 10 members were non-bcs members, they paint the picture that somebody from the MAC, Horizon or Mountain West would want the Valley to have more teams in the dance. These are teams that battle for recruits every year. It's not a lovefest between conferences labeled as mid-majors.

There was a published report that Cincinnati had to pay ISU $25,000 just to delay the game until 2007-2008, but if they then change their minds and don't want to play it in 2007-2008, they will still owe the contracted full buyout that is rumored to be in the $80,000-$100,000 range.

But don't put it past Cincinnati to do just that.
They could buy out entirely of the ISU game and add an extra game against a BCS school and easily make that amount up and even double it.

Just recently Bill Self was quoted as saying if just one of their exhibition opponents backed out or if they went to a closed scrimmage instead it would cost them $400,000-$500,000,
that's how much money they make just on a home exhibition game. They probably make double on a big time game with TV coverage.

Bradley does have a deal with Nike, and some coaches also have individual deals with the shoe companies. I don't know if Coach Les does. But the deal with Bradley is miniscule compared with what they pay to contract with the big boys. It's all about getting their logos on TV and having the public see the Nike swoosh whenever ESPN shows highlights. Since midmajor schools like Bradley don't get on TV much, and it's just local or regional at best, Nike deals for the midmajors are much smaller than for Big 10, ACC, Big East, etc.
