The Yuba website just updated with their roster this year--
http://www.yccd.edu/yuba/athletics/basketball/men/roster.php

Xavier Crawford's page. He is listed at 7'0", 219 pounds--
http://www.yccd.edu/yuba/athletics/basketball/men/player.php?id=48

Coach Cornelius appears to have his most athletic team, with a lot of size and an abundance of athletic wing scorers. He has several players with Division I abilities like Aaron Garner, Demetrius Young (already signed to Marshall), Mareceo Rutledge (UNLV signee), and a couple talented freshmen.

A couple other players of interest on the Yuba roster--

Kyle Rische- a reknowned dunking exhibitionist is taking his game to Yuba--
http://www.yccd.edu/yuba/athletics/basketball/men/player.php?id=44

Vaughn Canta- this might not be the correct picture for this 6'3" wing player--
http://www.yccd.edu/yuba/athletics/basketball/men/player.php?id=47

A couple questions for the Coach- is Bradley recruiting any of your other stars besides Xavier?
Also, the roster lists a lot of post and wing players, and just 1 point guard. Is that a problem for your team?

We are very excited for the season to begin tonight. X will not start because he was sick this week and missed a practice. Kyle Rische will start at the post. Coach Les really likes Royal Edwards and Kevin Ukahagbe both 6'6 wings with tremendous athletic ability. Kyle is not considered a pro because of the espn thing. We already checked into that and we have 2 point guards. Aaron Garner will probably sign at Oklahoma by next week as a point guard. He has about 10 D1 offers and Coach Les loved him but already had Fears who was very similar.
Good Luck against Depaul as you know Ill be watching from afar.
I predict a top 10 rebounding in the country for Zach.

Coach Corn - A couple of questions for you if you have the time...

I have never seen Xavier Crawford play, so naturally I am curious as to what he can do now and in the future. What are his strengths/weaknesses? Would have have been able to help the Braves this year, or is he really a year or 2 away from being a significant contributor at the DI level?

I look forward to seeing X's development, and hopefully someday see him at BU. You can never have enough 7 footers!

Thanks, and best of luck this season.

Also...notice they list Mt. Zion Prep as Xavier's high school and not BTM. I wonder if Xavier didn't get out of BTM what he was promised...

Marshall?

Marshall?

Here is the story on Yuba's win Friday night. They also played Saturday night. Bradley recruit (who signed with Marshall) Demetrius Young put up Boogie-type numbers for Yuba. He scored 30 points and had 21 rebounds.--

He signed with Marshall? :-o :? Either this kid isn't very bright, or we really didn't want him too bad :o

Makes me think of Allen Iverson press conference....."Marshall? We're talking Marshall, man. Marshall."

I got an email from Coach Cornelius a couple days ago. Yuba played in a tournament over the weekend and did well. They finshed 2-1.

Yuba is loaded with very good athletes, see the earlier posts in this thread.

Here is what Coach Cornelius told me about Xavier--

Despite having skills, Xavier is a little "too thin and foul prone" right now. He gets pushed around a little too much.
He will work on getting stronger, but it sounds like his playing time will be limited at first and increase as he gets stronger.
Xavier did play in all 3 games-- Friday he had 7pts, 4 rebs, Sat. was 3 pts, 4 rebs and Sunday was 0 pts, and 5 fouls.
Coach Corn thinks he would have probably been better to redshirt if he had stayed at Bradley, and thus would not have helped BU this year.

Coach also said he was happy to hear about Bradley's win over DePaul, and that he keeps in touch with Zach.

We'll keep posting updates about Xavier as the season progresses.
