Last Scholie Targets

Dallas Brave

New member
With the Braves impressive 4-0 start and the means by which they have gotten here have me thinking about JL's plans for the last scholarship. Part of this year's remarkable success at the guard position is because ZA fits in so well with an up-tempo game. And .. is it possible that the Braves will be just as up tempo next year when DW and JF start playing along side DR, JC, RB, and AW???? The last scholie needs to go to a JuCo big guy who can run the court. It's mission critical that we find a replacement for ZA. The Braves need to trounce Rutgers and then give the Illini a run for the money (if not beat them) this weekend. At that point JL needs to start bringing the top unsigned JuCo big men to see the games. Hopefully there are going to be some solid recruits at the Rutgers and Illini or Miami (OH) game. What big guy would not want to reap the benefits of being on a team with this type of guard play?

This isn't meant as any lack of confidence in Jim Les' recruiting ability.
Quite to the contrary, I trust JL will land a big one when he does give out the final scholarship for next season, 2007-2008.

But....it's fair game to post ideas of who we'd like to see play for the Braves, and I have a couple ideas.

I have 3 specific suggestions for handing out the scholarship this spring, but of course, some other kid might emerge,
and Coach Les would know better who fits the style of play BU uses.

Darrington Hobson is a fine, multitalented player who transferred to Decatur Christian, and has yet to get a solid offer, although Illinois, Oklahoma State, and Baylor are looking.

The other two are junior college kids.

Jason Francis, the 18th highest rated junior college player, a 6-9 PF/C from Southeastern Illinois College.
He is on the same team as TJ Marion and has a big upside coming off a redshirt year.
If BU gets Francis, it may help land TJ Marion.

The last one is a kid named David Collins.
Bradley has been on this kid for some time and has already offered.
Collins is a solid 7 footer, from Missouri State-West Plains junior college. He is rated inside the top 30 juco players nationally.
