Monson resigns, MO interim

I wonder if Jim will consider hiring Al Biancalana as an assistant? He has one opening on his staff.

Here is an interesting article about who might be hired as the next full time coach at Minnesota (if it isn't Jim Molinari).
Apparently there is strong support to hire former Minnesota guard Trent Tucker.

Trent Tucker was an good-shooting guard who played at University of Minnesota and graduated in 1982. He surprised a lot of people by becoming successful in the NBA and stuck around for 11 seasons. He still resides in New York and not Minnesota, and has been out of basketball for several years, now. The thing that works against Tucker though is his lack of head coaching experience. Sound familiar?

Another strong possibility is Flip Saunders. He is currently the head coach of the Detroit Pistons, but he has apparently expressed interest in returning to Minnesota, which he attended, as head coach some day. I can't believe he would consider this. He has been very successful in Detroit, they are currently in 1st place, and he is making millions of dollars a year to coach there. He would have to take a massive salary cut to move to Minnesota.--

Saunders, it is noted, is close friends with Molinari, so if he was hired he might want to keep Jim on the staff?
Note some of the other names mentioned-- the usual suspects Rick Majerus and Steve Lavin, Tom Crean, Mike Montgomery, Randy Wittman, Dana Altman, Greg McDermott, Todd Likliter, and Rob Jeter.

And here is an article from the Minneapolis paper about Mo that compares Minnesota's hiring of Mo with Bradley's hiring back in 1991.--

The article says Jim already filled the open assistan position by promoting administrative assistant Niko Medved to assistant coach. So it looks like none of Mo's former assistants like Al B. will not be joining him this year.

I hope the best for MO. I agree with Tornado that Jim will have a huge turnaround to get the job but you never know.
Minny message boards don't neccessarily favor Tucker and they don't think they can afford Flip, they don't like Lavin or Majerus either, too late for McD (which is why some wanted Monson gone last year) a name not your list that was talked about was Turgeon
