I was over on the Minnesota Gophers boards, and there's a lot of talk about who'll be coach.
Some legit talk suggests the Gophers might go after Bob Knight but also mentioned are Chris Lowery, Mark Turgeon, Flip Saunders, Dana Altman, Jeff Bzdelik, Tim Miles (at North Dakota State, and Mike Leaf (head coach at Winona State)

I think Miles will have to go one level in between. I would think the Winona State guy is the most logical choice.

I don't think Lowery or Turgeon are going anywhere.

I don't believe Bzdelik will go to the Big Ten, because there's not enough room in the conference for two Princeton guys, and he is too good honestly for the Minnesota job. He's one of the hottest commodities in coaching, he'd be foolish to risk losing it all in Minnesota. He will probably have his choice of major East Coast or Pac-10 gigs when they become open.

The biggest issue the boosters had with Monson was his inability or unwillingness to recruit the top Minnesota talent. The next coach, IMO, will either be a top notch recruiter, or someone with strong connections to the state of Minnesota so that they can put the priority on keeping Minnesota kids at UM.

Molinari must be given a lot of authority with the team. He just fired Monson's top assistant Bill Walker, who had been there since 1999.
I suspect there were hard feelings when Walker's close friend Monson was let go, and then Molinari got the job over Walker, who has been there 3 times longer than Mo.
Sometimes a situation like that can have a malignant effect on the team.-

This article suggests there was a rift between Walker and Molinari-

Let's see who Mo hires as his new assistant. Will it be someone who he has worked with before?
