Indiana State - Purdue

If Indiana State can win this game (Purdue has an RPI of 22), Possibly all 10 MVC teams will be around RPI of 80's or better!

:D A game like this takes some of the sting out of our loss this week. At least it takes my mind off it for a little while. I think the Valley is 5-4 against the Little 10 and we were close also. I think maybe it's easier to root for The Sycamores because they aren't perennial leaders in the Valley. Nice job Trees !!!!

According to Realtimerpi.com, at least until the Drake-Evansville game is over, all 10 MVC teams have RPI's 91 or lower.

I suspect that has never happened with any major conference this late into the season.

ACC most recently FINISHED the season with RPI's for all teams 90 and under in the 2003-2004 season.

They were a small enough conference with a lot of 'weight' demanding favorable scheduling situations. (the RPI formula only changed a couple years ago to give road/neutral wins more value than home wins)

Purdue does have a 25 game road losing streak...

Oh. So that is the reason they lost.

Boo-hoo.

The ACC had only 9 teams at that time. I couldn't find that any conference that had 10 teams or more had all under 100.

Let me post a question.

Drake was picked 7th in the MVC Preseason Coaches Poll.
They just lost last night at Evansville (picked just barely ahead of Drake at 6th). But they trailed the entire way, were blown out in the 2nd half, and lost by 19. Their shooting percentages were terrible.

Bradley, picked 8th lost a game that was within 3 points in the final minutes at UNI (picked 5th, well ahead of UE).
BU was closing in the 2nd half and hampered by foul trouble in the paint.

Which one is the worse loss?

I think both games prove it is going to be very hard to win on the road in the Valley. But I would definitely say the Drake loss was the worse of the two losses, and if Evansville can expose Drake's total inability to hit a basket outside the lane by playing a very tight, simple zone, then every team in the MVC is going to do this to Drake this season.
Klayton Korver was 4-7 from 3-pt, but the Purple Aces dared anyone else on Drake to shoot and gave them any deep shot they wanted, and the rest of the team was 2-19!!!

UE definitely exposed Drake's weakness....3-pt shooting. Here's an unbelievable stat....through 12 games, neither of Drake's starting guards has made a 3-pt shot. That's got to be unprecedented at any level of college basketball.

However, even though they are not a good 3-pt shooting team, Drake is not nearly as bad a shooting team as they appeared to be last night. Definitely the worst performance I've seen from the 'dogs all year. It was obvious in the first 10 minutes of the game that Drake was sleepwalking in this one.

Drake had an 8 game winning streak going into last night's game, including a win over Iowa and 3 tough road wins at Iowa State, Toledo, and Jackson State. The Bulldogs were the hottest team in the MVC.
