Redbirds Get Beat at Home

Dilligard was hurt, sprained his ankle in practice Wed.,
but apparently still played.
Boo Richardson had a bad game.
Midway thru the 2nd half he reportedly had no points, 6 turnovers, 4 fouls.

I attended the game. ISU was completely overmatched. Our guards sucked, our post players sucked....it was terrible. Eldridge scored 8 points in a short spell during the first half, other than that it was really bad. I don't see any way the Birds avoid Thursday night in St. Louis this year.

ISU thought bringing in so many juco transfers would make them more competetive immediately, but they sure didn't show it tonight in a 19-point loss, in which their starters shot 11-40.
This was an embarrassing loss at home, in which their point guard had zero points, zero rebounds, six turnovers, and five fouls.
Falker ruled the paint with 10 points, 17 rebounds, as SIU also got virtually nothing from their bench, but didn't need to.

SIU's win on the road means a jump in their RPI to 16!

The ISU loss drops the Redbirds' RPI to 90, 9th in the MVC ahead only of Drake's 92.
At 0-2 in the Valley, ISU occupies 10 place all alone.

This was a significant embarrassment at home, in which their point guard had zero points, zero rebounds, six turnovers, and five fouls. This exposed a very serious lack of depth at the PG position.

This doesn't help attendance or Porter at all.

It's looking more like Moser could be out after this year.

Anthony Slack is probably beginning to regret going to ISU. He has lost his starting spot to Levi Dyer, and playing time has dropped off. Boo Richardson has not been very consistent.

You could be exactly right on Moser, if games like this keep happening. Thats the 1 drawback to non-conference games...they give you a false sense of hope. We went 8-3 (shoulda been 10-1) in what was a decent, not great, but decent non-con sched, and in 2 MVC games weve gotten destoyed by 28 and 19 points. Im not surprised we lost, since SIU owns us, but losing by that many at home is ridiculous.

As for Slack, he didnt technically "lose" his starting job per se. Dyer has been starting simply to protect Slack from getting into foul trouble, which he had done the last few games. He was moved to a bench role to help keep him from foul trouble.

It dosent matter. If we continue to play as scared and timid as we did tonight, we wont win any Valley games.

Attendance was listed as 6429, much better than some of the non-conference games, and I know it is during Christmas break, but the TV highlights showed an awful lot of empty seats.

but the TV highlights showed an awful lot of empty seats

as if that's anything newsworthy. The place has been 1/2 empty for years. No one gives a damn anymore as I've said countless times on this board. It's not gonna change. No one cares, therefore no one goes. The place hans't seen 10,000 fans since the 90's.

I just went over to their board and read some ISU fans' postgame comments. Jeez, someone needs to keep those guys away from sharp objects....
