It never hurts to start recruting a kid early. Bradley, ISU, and SIU have reportedly already offered a scholarship to this 15 year old kid. Half the Big Ten is also interested in him.
Joseph Bertrand is a 6'3", 170 pound point guard from Sterling (IL) high school. He also plays for the Illinois Wolves 17-under squad. His AAU coach, Mike Mullins, compares him to Evan Turner at this stage.

OK...I'm on the case. As a Sterling grad and a Proud Golden Warrior with my family still living in Sterling it should give us an edge.

Thumbing through my HS yearbook as we speak seeing if I dated (hopefully not) his mother

Someone from Sterling posted today on the Illinois board that SIU coach Chris Lowery was in Sterling today to watch Bertrand at an open gym. Michigan State coach Izzo there, too.

Bertrand is very good but has high majors drooling on him so i doubt mullins would let him go to BU.

about those HOOPSCOOP rankings....
I am the new Illinois Editor for HOOPSCOOP and i guaruntee those rankings will change ALOT when Clarke puts out his next ones. Colvin will be higher, DJ will be higher, Bertrand will stay where hes at, Cully will be higher, Sugiyama will be OFF and other changes will be made down low.

Here are a couple clips--
Bertrand, the No. 60 ranked player in the class of 2009, has a busy slate ahead this month. This weekend, he'll make a return trip to the University of Illinois. The weekend after, he's off to Wisconsin. Southern Illinois will host him at some point this month, too. Bertrand has been to all three programs before unofficially.
Bertrand said he has offers from Arizona State, Bradley, Illinois State, Iowa, Marquette, Notre Dame, Southern Illinois and Wisconsin. Kentucky, Southern Cal, Cincinnati and Miami are also interested, he said.
"I'm considering all of them right now because I haven't really narrowed it down yet," Bertrand said. "I talk to a lot of them but none of them have really stood out right now. I'm still listening. It is going to be about me being comfortable with where I am at and comfortable with the coaches and campus. Stuff like that. Academics are important, too."
