MVC RPI Improves

Based on a lot of teams who the MVC has played won today, the conference RPI jumped, and is closing in on the #1 spot.

UCLA lost, maybe that dropped the Pac 10 RPI, but the raw RPI numbers are now:

#1 Pac10 0.5905
#2 MVC.. 0.5850
#3 ACC....0.5842
#4 SEC... 0.5789

I can almost hear it now....let's say a few things happen that catapault the Missouri Valley into the TOP SPOT,
that the MVC becomes the #1 ranked conference in RPI.
Can you hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst the pundits if that should happen??
I expect we'll see an immediate end to the use of the RPI, even by emergency NCAA action before the end of the season!

By the way, another couple things happened that'll thrill the average BU fan....
DePaul won again, and Duke lost!!

PS-- the Peoria Pipeline faltered badly today for the Illini against Ohio State.
Brian Randle: 26 minutes, 1-7 from the floor, 5 pts., 4 fouls
Jamar Smith: 27 minutes, 1-9 from the floor, 3 pts, only 1 rebound, one assist
And throw in Marcus Arnold since he's played in Peoria and was in the MVC:
Arnold had 0-2, NO points, one rebound, and of course FOUR FOULS.
Team 3-pt shooting for the Illini 3-23 (.130)

I still haven't gotten a call back or a return e mail from Larry.
Maybe I even hope he doesn't return my call tonight, he'll be in a foul mood.

BTW, S. Miss' loss to a really bad team actually does some harm to BU
and the MVC in the RPI, as BU's RPI drops to 45, and the whole conference slides back to 3rd.
Thanks a lot Larry!

BTW--DePaul's RPI is up to 49!!

AND they lost at HOME!
By the way, anyone know this? DUKE has NOT YET played a road game!
That's right, it will be Jan. 10 before they actually go to an opponent's home arena to play (they have played 3 neutral site games).
I saw an interesting story that said Duke's Coach Kyzyzewski grabbed one of the Virginia Tech players who was celebrating after the game and scolded him, telling him he shouldn't be celebrating and should hold his "feelings inside".
Here is the quote from the player:
"Dowdell, who was first tackled in the lane by a mob of teammates then bounced up and extended the ???‚¬?“Virginia Tech???‚¬?? on his jersey toward the Crazies, was stopped by Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski during the commotion.
???‚¬?“He told me I was too good of a player to be celebrating like that,???‚¬?? Dowdell said. ???‚¬?“But the way they beat us last year, they certainly celebrated. It???‚¬?„?s hard to control your emotion at that point and it was impossible for me to hold my feelings inside.???‚¬??

Hey, Coach K, just coach your own team!
