2026 Portal transfers

I think we can do better....unless our staff thinks he has potential to get a whole lot better.
Dennis "Trey" Scott averaged just 5 ppg on surprisingly low shooting percentages

Only 40% overall for a 6-11 guy and he took a lot of 3-point shots (almost 50% of all the shots he took were 3-pt attempts)
... but hit just 28%, and his FT shooting was just 66% - and a 6-11 guy with just 3 rpg?
I'd have a hard time believing there's more than a couple 6-11 guys in DI who play 20 min.game and get that few rebounds.

👍🏻👍🏻 - Wardle NEEDS to prioritize rebounds this offseason - I trust his instincts on the guard rotation. So brutal watching our forwards getting out-hustled by our guards off the glass (besides smith ofc). Thats why im so excited for Thornbrue 😎

KJ Tenner was a Bradley recruit in the class of 2024. He originally committed to Darian DeVries at Drake, but decommitted when DeVries left to take the West Virginia job, then he committed to West Virginia. But he didn't play much at West Virginia as a freshman, 13 mpg off the bench and 2.4 ppg. This season at Murray State, he was mostly a reserve (started 7 of 33 games), and averaged 6.0 ppg.
I don't know what he's looking for, but I doubt there is a big NIL market for mid-major reserve guards who average 6 ppg. So maybe he's transferring because he clashed with his coach or didn't see more playing time in his future if he stayed at Murray State.
 
He only played 13 min per game at WVU so he was prob hoping for a lot more playing time at Murray State.
But it didn't work out that way - he only got a couple min more off the bench behind Domon, Taylor who both return.
So like a lot of transfers, I'd guess he's hoping to find a place that he'll start and get starter minutes.
 
Let's get as many Peoria kids as we can! I'm guessing Coach Wardle has himself or some coach dedicated to getting players home to Peoria!
 
Here is a new portal entry who would be smart to transfer to a mid-major and get a chance to play regularly.
Olivier Rioux is the 7'9" kid from Quebec. He has spent the last 2 years at Florida, his first year as a redshirt, then this past year as a very deep bench player. He has bulked up from when he first arrived at the college level, but he still sees very little playing time. He logged only 16 total minutes of playing time this season in Florida's 35 games.

Olivier would be an absolute sensation at the mid-major level, just based on the novelty that he represents, let alone his likely increased ability to be effective at the mid-major level.

Seems like would be a smart move. A lot easier to develop when you are on the court.
 
He didn't get playing time at Florida because altho tall, he is somewhat frail & clumsy, slow reaction time and
still a very shallow undertsanding of the basics ("basketball IQ")
But, I agree with above, that if he never gets a chance to play on the court his development will continue to be very slow
and he'll be a benchwarmer his whole career there. Sadly, he will prob still aim too high- looking for $$.
He shold look at mid-majors - Bradley has successfully developed several Candian kids...!

But check Tacko Fall - the 7-6 unskilled kid that chose UCF (AAC) - still aiming a bit too high- but got lots of playing time and
had a 4-year career averaging 10 ppg/7 rpg - and even played a few games over 3 seasons in the NBA & has had a solid pro career since.

another similar 7-6 guy Mamadou N'Diaye chose UC-Irvine - which was the RIGHT fit. He had a really nice career
averaging 12 ppg, 7 rpg, 67% % FG accuracy and his team averaged 24 wins per season while he was there, had
TWO first place Big West finishes and a 2nd place in their conference, also had one NCAA Tourney appearance, an NIT appearance
and a CBI runnerup finish. Also had a decent pro & international career.
 
It's not quite fair to make that comparison. Rioux is way behind where those two guys you mentioned were when they started at the D1 level. Plus the two you mentioned had a lot more physical coordination and athleticism than Rioux. I am not convinced he will ever be more than a 10-15 minute per game player even at the mid-major level.
 
How about Jason Drake-from Indiana-sat out last year with a lower body injury. Prior years played at Drexel. We have some connections at Indiana-Bargen, Adams…. 2 years of eligibility remaining
