Creighton-BU in game thread

This feels like the kind of game where BU will get to within two with the ball and then let it slip away or something like that.

usually after playing that hard to get back into it, u end up just short, running out of gas it seems. BU needs to quit letting them rain from downtown as they obviously can hit them. lets get the ball against funk and get him into foul trouble, tired of the announcers kissing his behind already!

I just don't see why we simply can't shoot against these guys. They aren't SIU! We just queue up wide open threes and clank them left and right...

Doesn't help that the two times we got the crowd into it and were making runs that the refs made some TERRIBLE calls...

And this isn't just about against us. These refs STINK. They called and offensive foul on Tolliver that was barely a push...I have no idea what they're watching. Here's a suggestion: Let them play. That's why we're watching.

not sure i can take much more than this.. is creighton cherry picking every play and scoring easy points? or is BU's defense that bad???

ps. also no stupid passes anymore either.

Well it was a good run boys but tonight was a life or death game. Maybe next year. Such is the attitude of a Cubs fan.

I havent seen Bradley make one play in the last two games thats even worthy of high school ball. Please god dont give us a bid. We're not deserving.

What?!

What?! Are you nuts?! And you call yourself a fan? :-o :?

Its too early to count the Braves out of the NCAA, but tonights loss seriously hurt their chances at a bid. I agree, an NIT appearance would be nice, and I think (unless we tank) we have earned that at this point.

Of course, i picked BU to win this game, but here's their remaining games and how i think they may go:

At ISU -- W
at SIU -- L
Drake -- W
at Evansville - W (difficult win here)
at VCU -- L (possible win here)
UNI -- W
In St. -- W

with our record currently at 15-8, that puts us right at 20 wins and firmly on the bubble. If we can pick up the Ws AND the VCU game, i think we can play ourselves in with a good tournament showing (like last year). But, if we drop any more of the "easy" wins and dont win the tournament, then its hello, NIT.

Im just saying that yeah, it's an uphill climb, but not to lose hope. NCAA is still attainable. Im more worried about getting there and getting flat-out outplayed. I guess that's part of the fun of this year's team; you never know what you'll get!

*edit* Maybe the lone positive thing from tonight's game was Jeremy going 4-5 from 3 point land and playing 31 minutes!

btw, i just wanted to add that im glad i found this board! People here seem to be pretty knowledgable and i always enjoy great BU basketball conversation!

Nice post..........but the entire tone of last night's game was highlighted by the 5 (and possibly more) point swing handed to and laid in Dana Altman's lap by the ref who was constantly making unbelievable calls from as far across the court as imaginable.

The play I refer to was when DRuff was bringing the ball up and went up for a 3-point shot, and was fouled, with Funk knocking the ball loose. The ref close by saw the whole play and called a foul and was going to award Ruff 3 shots.
From the far corner, the other guy comes running to say he thought he saw a travel. What he saw was Ruff going up and then coming down with the ball, which would have been a travel, except for the foul and the fact that Funk knocked the ball loose, all of which the other ref surely could not see from his vantage point.
Then he whistles a "T" on JL for objecting to the very objectable call.

The rest of the way the foul calls were just as bad, very inconsistent, and in case you didn't see the numbers, they were 27-18 in favor of you know who. FT attempts were 40-19, with FTs made being 31-9. So with Creighton scoring 22 points more at the line than BU and then winning by 11, I guess you can see who controlled this game.
Creighton played well, and BU did not play as well as they can, but the three guys with whistles determined the winner of this game.

Oh well, gotta suc*k it up and get on with Satuday's game. Need a win, and hope we don't get the same guys unless they call it that way against SIU down there!

Its amazing to me that you consider yourself a BU fan, with that kind of thinking. If the players felt like you, we would be in terrible shape. I suggest that if you are going to be a fan, you need to have more confidence. We will definitely reach that (20) game plato, put up an outstanding showing in the Valley's tournamnet, and ultimately get the NCAA bid. Once there, we will go further than last year. If you don't have this type of mindset I think you should become a fan of some other ball club. We deserve and need nothing but positive thinkers. Yes, last night loss hurts, but it goes with the territory. Suck it up and move on, but most of all, think positive!!!!

yeah i just broke my remote...still looking for the batteries

Classic. Amazing how far those batteries can fly out of a remote when it slams into something at warp speed. When I was younger my parents would hide the remote from when any of my teams had a big game, as it was sure to slam into a wall, or God forbid another human who was innocently walking through the house.
