Joe Stowell

watching a lot of games on t.v and notice many bb floors named after a famous coach from that school (Ray Meyer, Denny Crum, Collins)

I do not know of anyone who is more associated with Bradley Basketball more than Joe Stowell. Any chance BU floor would be named after Stowell?

yes, I understand it is the Civic Center and not BU's. The man has devoted 60 years of his like to BU basketball and like they say "where there is a will there is a way"

such as Ray Meyer Court at Allstate Arena, Allstate is not owned by DePaul.

Not saying it can't be done, just more difficult than if BU owned it.

I can see them naming the new courts after Stowell. As for Carver, I highly doubt it. Once BU's lease exspires, I think the Braves might come back on campus for games. I do foresee them addding seats to the construction of the new facillity. I am not sure BU is happy with the situation at Carver, but I might be over analysing - oh well

BU will never be back on campus that is a book it.They could get out of the Civic Center lease now if they wanted to.

Technically, it's not BU's to name, but rather the Civic Center belongs to the people of Peoria.

Are you sure?.....of course BU doesn't own the facility, but the playing surface sure has the name Bradley written all over it, so just maybe they can call it whatever they want.
Since the Louisville Cardinals also, like BU, play on a Civic arena floor well off campus In Freedon Hall), they were able to strike a deal to name their floor what they wanted to.

4500 seats and only a 300 capacity parking deck is already going to have the facility stretched to the campus' limits.

Bradley men's basketball will never move back to campus to play in a 4500 seat arena. IMO, building a 4500 seat arena is worthless. The women's team will never fill 4500 seats, and the men's team can't play in a 4500 seat arena, so why are we building this size arena? Not to mention a 300 space parking deck isn't even close to enough parking for that size arena either.(if it was filled)
Man, I wish BU had the parking space available to build a 10000 seat arena and bring the men back to campus. How fun would that be. Although I could care less, another problem with on campus games is there would be no alcohol sales.

I agree with you mostly, I feel like a smaller arena and a place somewhere between 4500 and the 500 the ballroom seats would be more beneficial to campus. However why couldn't they have alcohol sales on campus? Bradley's not dry... It really would be amazing to play on campus again. I think we'd get better student turnout and theres just something about it, I think it would give campus a 'gameday' feel before the game.

NCAA rules. Right? I don't think the NCAA allows alcohol sales at games played on campus. isu has no alcohol at their games.

Huh. didn't know that.

Yeah, on campus games cannot be matched by an off campus site.
Student turnout would be much higher, and it would just be alot more fun IMO. Plus BU wouldn't have to pay the Civic Center anymore. Unfortunately, I don't think this is ever gonna happen.

Not sure on this but I think BU can do as they please since they are a private school. The NCAA should have no say in the matter. ISU has no alcohol as it is a public state school.

Yeah, the one thing I really think is missing from Bradley Basketball is that pre-game atmosphere that accompanies some other schools. I love arriving on a campus before a game and the feeling that the game is what everyones waiting for that day. Bradley's moving closer to that but still not near that of a bigger school. Let's just hope our continued success pushes BU in that direction.

Regardless if Bradley is private or not, they are still a member of
the NCAA and have to abide by their rules to be a member. Otherwise why don't we do what we please with our mascot. I know the NCAA bans alcohol sales at all its official championship events, and I thought they did at on-campus events as well. I might be wrong about the second, but if I am I doubt it has anything to do with Bradley being a private school, as they are still hosting NCAA events. This is a moot point by the way, as I am sure we will never :( play on-campus again.
