Buycks' team, Milwaukee Bay View won Saturday night,
73-57.
Dwight had 12 points.

Tough break for Sam Maniscalco's team...
By the way, illinoishsbasketball.com has nice coverage of this game
http://www.freewebs.com/chipatsj23h/stpatsevanstonnn.htm

and the operator of illinoishsbasketball.com, Daniel Poneman lists his poll on who should be be Mr. Basketball in Illinois.

It comes as no surprise that Derrick Rose is #1 with 52% of the vote, but
Sam Maniscalco comes in 7th with 3% of the votes, behind
Rose, McCamey, Watt, Pullen, Jeff Jordan, and Evan Turner.
Poneman also has Sam as the PG on the All State 2nd Team!

One more thing....I heard a rumor that Marcus Jordan and Hales Franciscan's Stan Simpson will possibly transfer to Chicago Whitney Young HS to play next year.

Can't imagine one of MJ's kids attending a Chicago Public League school.....regardless of how good the basketball team is! :-o

Sam Maniscalco's team lost to Evanston (Lennox Forrester's high school) Friday 59-47. They did it with a gimmick defense, a box and 1, designed to stop Sam.

Evanston stops future Bradley player Maniscalco--

This might require a password. Here are a few clips--
All week, Evanston had one major focus: stopping St. Patrick senior guard Sam Maniscalco. Even before Evanston steamrolled Mather on Wednesday to reach the regional final with the Shamrocks, the Wildkits practiced a box-and-one defense with the sole intention of containing Maniscalco, the three-point specialist and future Bradley Brave.
Holding Maniscalco to just six points in the game's first three quarters, Evanston jumped ahead of St. Patrick early and never looked back, taking the Niles West regional title 59-47 Friday night in Skokie.
Maniscalco finished with 17 points on 4-of-13 shooting.
"We feel that Maniscalco's probably one of the top players in the state," senior DiPanjot Singh said. "We can't stop him, so we had to contain him. We felt if we could contain him, we could win the game, no matter what. If he went off for about 20 or 30 points, it would be hard to win."
With three three-pointers in the fourth quarter, Maniscalco came close to reaching the 20-point mark-and came close to bringing the Shamrocks all the way back. After St. Patrick fell behind by 13 early in the fourth quarter, it used a 10-2 run to pull within five.

WOW....thats pretty high praise when the Evanston team planned it's D' for the sole purpose of slowing down SM! 8)

Jus thought I'd slip this comment in...
One of the ex-ISU recruits, Stefhon Hannah, who ended up at Missouri, received the Newcomer of the Year Award in the Big XII.
http://media.www.dailytoreador.com/...Named.To.Big.12.Conference.Team-2756165.shtml

and an ex-BU recruit, Jamarcus Ellis was his conference's (Panhandle Conference) Player of the Year.
http://www.chipleybugle.com/localnews/chipola-3-2.htm

Of interest, Jamarcus was one of FIVE Chipola players (their entire starting five) who were named to the First Team All Conference, and three more of their teammates made Second Team! Pretty amazing...eight different Chipola players making either 1st or 2nd Team All Conf.

An Ex-BU hoopster, Phillip Gilbert is playing very well for the ABA Kings, scoring 24 in Friday's game vs. Quad City, but the coverage in the PJ Star failed to even mention Phillip's name.

And an obscure mention of Ex-BU player Joey Paul.
"Appropriately, the key to the victory was the strong inside play of the one Eagle known by his initials -- "K.G." Kevin Guirand. The 6-foot-3 junior center -- a cousin of
Joey Paul, who was the star for the Highland Park team in 2002 that was the last prep squad from this area to advance to the state tourney -- hit baskets for the Eagles after Wauconda pulled within 56-53 and 58-55 with four minutes left in the game."

.........

Here's a story about the game, and it was apparently a big disappointment, as Klein Forest was expected to advance and make it to state.
Their season ended 29-9 (wow, that's a lot of games for a high school to play even before getting to the state tourney).
But in the end, their young, underclassmen guards failed to get the ball to the two D-I recruits on the block who could score.
This is similar to what I saw when Klein Forest played at the Civic Center in the TOC over Thanksgiving.
(In addition to two D-I basketball recruits, Klein Forest's other forward is a fine athlete (Jonathan Wilson) who signed to play football at Kansas.)
Their guards could neither score nor distribute the ball.
Maybe Anthony will enjoy playing with DRuff and Sam Maniscalco.
