Bradley up to 38th in RPI

As of 1:00 Wednesday Bradley is 38th. This seems good to me, my limited knowledge of RPI leads me to believe that as other teams lose(everyone except 1 team from each conference has to), Bradley should remain the same/move up as the week progresses, which can only help... right?

I definitely agree, but I afraid were going to witness a travesty. Most people aren't even talking about us...

We are creeping back into people's memories. Doug Gottlieb mentioned our whooping of Wright St last night on GameNight, and Bilas mentioned our thrashing of DePaul today during the game.

I seem to remember this kind of feeling from last year too... A feeling of gloom followed by increasing confidence and eventual selection. I will be glued to selection sunday, but who knows if we'll make it I guess.

at least the Braves are mentioned as an "out bubble team" on the s.i.'s bracket watch list...

Anyone get the feeling that the cream is kind of rising to the top. VCU, Wright St, Depaul starting to get noticed. All of these teams we beat, maybe we are ready to climb a little higher in the RPI as other teams lose. I don't know, at least I feel our chances are getting better than worse as the week goes on.............so far. :?

Unfortunately, the difference between last year and this year is that we were always on the bubble watch. If you remember, once we took down UNI, who was ranked at the time, we were penciled as IN. Our loss to SIU in the championship moved us down to the bubble (as did other conference tournies) ...

This year, we've never been IN and we've barely been on the last teams OUT list. Now, if you look at many different writers out there (Lunardi being one of the most consistent in getting the right teams in), we're not even in the last group of teams that might get in. And, because our tournament ends so early, we have no chance to really improve much.

Sure, these are just opinions but they are respected, good opinions from writers who have been doing this stuff for awhile.

If by some miracle we can get in, that'd be GREAT! But if not ...

I just hope we get a good draw and don't have to play on the road in the second game of the NIT against some powerhouse who just missed the tourney. Considering the availabilty of Carver Arena during the weekend (or lack thereof), there's certainly a possibility that we'd be away from home. If we're in the NIT, I want to WIN IT!

DePaul blew their shot at getting noticed. They lost to Villanova in the 1st round of the Big East Tournament. They were our last chance at a big RPI-booster. Our last hopes are FAMU winning their conference tournament (they play Hampton tonight), Southern Miss making it to the final of C-USA (and losing to Memphis), and Iowa St stealing a win or 2 in the Big 12 Tournament (highly unlikely).

My hopes is that we can remain at 45 or higher by it's time to pick the teams on Sunday.

By virtue of DePaul's loss, the MVC has moved back into 5th according to RealTime RPI, by .0001 over the Big East. I'm not sure how a UConn win over Syracuse (which we need badly) would affect that.

Yeah I saw that Depaul lost about 20 seconds after posting that.

Bradley (21-12, 10-8 MVC)
Clemson (21-9, 7-9 ACC) Higher RPI, Lower SOS
DePaul (18-13, 9-7 Big East) Lower RPI, Lower SOS
Georgia (17-12, 8-8 SEC) Lower RPI, Higher SOS
K-State (21-10, 10-6 Big 12) Lower RPI, Lower SOS
Illinois (21-10, 9-7 Big Ten) Higher RPI, Lower SOS
Michigan (20-11, 8-8 Big Ten) Lower RPI, Lower SOS
Miss. St. (17-12, 8-8 SEC) Lower RPI, Lower SOS
Ok. St. (20-11, 6-10 Big 12) Lower RPI, Lower SOS

Nobody beats us in both categories. Only three teams (Clemson, Illinois, Ole Miss) beat us in RPI and two teams (Arkansas, Georgia) beat us in SOS.

Our RPI+SOS+Record+Crouch out for a month+VCU+DePaul+SIU+Wright State+Lots of thing makes us hard to ignore even with Mich St. and Tenn. Tech.

if ony you were on the selection committee! :D

I understand the thought process in giving each conference an automatic bid, but take a look at this.

Teams that are IN the tournament! All 8 of these teams are outside the top 65 in RPI & top 100 in SOS.

I love underdogs and think there is a possibility one of more of these teams may throw an upset, but what are the odds of 2 wins or 3 wins?

Niagra (22-11) RPI 139, SOS 241

N. Texas (20-10) 135, 274

E. Kentucky (19-11) 127, 238

Belmont (22-9) 113, 262

Oral Roberts (22-10) 85, 167

Pennsylvania (21-8 ) 77, 165

Wright St. (23-9) 71, 166

Winthrop (24-4) 69, 267

The remaining teams already holding automatic bids are Gonzaga (RPI-56), Davidson (51), VCU (47) & Creighton (21).

That's 12 of the 31 automatic bids with an Avg RPI of 82.58. As much as I think BU's resume this year is equal if not better than last year's, unless the conf RPI ends up at #5, I question the MVC getting 4 teams in. OUCH - it hurts to say that.

Wow, alot of those teams that got automatic bids have terrible SOS. SOS kinda stinks because it is so hard for an "underdog" team to schedule a big conference foe these days to gain SOS or RPI by chance because none of the power conference teams want to play a game that they automatically expect to win and won't really benefit from.

I feel the committee should revoke Butler's bid just because they lost to Wright State twice, a team BU DEMOLISHED :D! If we don't get it, I have a feeling Butler is the reason.

Oh, by the way....that puts us just one spot behind Missouri State in RPI...I know a lot of people don't think it's likely we jump them, but a lot of people feel that we got "their bid" last year.
