Mississippi State player arrested

It looks as if this guy missed about 10 games at the beginning of the season too, any one know what that's about?

amckillip, you are really astute!

Slater tore ligaments in his knee near the end of last season (2005-2006) but was fully recovered and ready to go this past fall,
and the he was "suspended for the entire first half of the season AND the first two SEC conference games due to violating team rules".

The team would not disclose the nature of the violation, but I have to be suspicious that this may not be Slater's first violation of this nature!! There was some rumble I found on message boards that he failed a couple of "tests" over the summer.

How many HALF-SEASON suspensions do you routinely see in D-I?

Here is the stat line from Mississippi State's NIT win over 200 RPI Mississippi Valley State (who by the way, at RPI 200 and SOS 311 had absolutely no right being in any post season tournament).

Their weakling opponent Mississippi Valley State went 0-6 vs. teams ranked 1-100 in RPI and 1-10 against teams ranked 1-200.
That means they were a whopping 17-5 against teams whose RPI was over 200! How the heck they even found 22 teams with RPI's above 200 is beyond belief! Their non-conference record was 5-10! and their best "quality" win was over RPI 168 Jackson State. The second best was over RPI 235 McNeese State.

Well, here's Slater's stat line...
31 minutes played, 1-9, 0-2 from 3-pt, 1-2 on FTs, 3 points.
I am actually glad they are going to let the guy play.
He's a 25% 3-point shooter, but still launches more than two a game.

Here is the story on Dietric Slater. I have season tickets, and have seen him play many, many times. Dietric is listed at 6-3 200. He may be 6-2 1/2. He is the GUTS on this team. He plays hurt all the time. He has a badly sprained wrist on his shooting hand. He wears ace wraps on arms, legs, and simply is a Spartan warrior. If there is a player on our team who you could make a highlight reel from, it is him. He is absolutely fearless. He totally disregards his body. He is a wild man on the floor, and our best defender. When healthy, he can score 10-12 ppg, just feeding on the slop, taking loose balls and putting them in, getting offensive rebounds and taking them to the hole, and making an occasional shot.

BTW, he pronounces his name "Die-Trick"

That's kinda what I was thinking, I mean it really could have been something minimal, like POB's last year, but when you get reoccurring events like this you have to start to question whats going on.
