The maximum number of games allowable to schedule is 27 for teams in conferences with post-season tournaments, and 29 for teams without post-season tournaments.
Also, each team can participate in one NCAA qualifyed regular-season multiple-team event (tournament) in addition to the 27 scheduled games, and play up to 4 additional games in that tournament.

There should be a rule capping the number of home games a team can schedule. Just look at Duke...

I agree with this completely. Make the big guys actualy take a bus(or plane) and see what it's lke playing in hostile territory. Because right now, theres no motivation for teams like. It's obvious the selection committee doesn't care about non conference schedule, only what conference your in. So why would Coach K take that chance. As long as he finishes .500 in his conference he gets a six seed, even if he loses to the 10 seed in the play-in round of his conference! So unless the NCAA legislates the number of home games we can only expect more of the same.

I like the idea of the forced road schedule, though it may wreck the finance of some of the minor conference members who make a lot of their money by going to non-con games at the big schools.
The reason for my question relates back to the MVC expansion discussion that comes up from time to time. I really like the balanced schedule that the MVC plays, so I don't really think we can go to 11 teams because that would mean only 7 non-conference games.
