Creighton Needs A Head Coach

OK, let me be the first to speculate on replacements--

Eddie Sutton was hired by Arkansas from Creighton many years ago, maybe another Sutton might be considered now. Scott Sutton has been succesful at Oral Roberts. There are a number of other successful mid-major coaches who would see a move to Creighton as a step up. Greg Marshall, the coach at winthrop and Anthony Grant, the VCU coach are still available.

Could Kevin McKenna have some kind of an "out-clause" that allows him to reneg at Indiana State if the Creighton job opens?
The other Creighton assistants would be realistic possibilities, Brian Fish and Darian DeVries, have both been with Altman a long time.

Bluejay Cafe is saying he's taking all his assistants with him.

Next question: do they have any tall Jucos who may be disgruntled and in need of a new program?

No, they just recently got verbals from 2 jucos, but they are both small guards.

Booker Woodfox, a 6'1" shooting guard--

Cavel Witter, a 5'9" combo guard--

Those 2 have not yet signed a LOI, since they just committed.
Their other 2007 recruits are (these 3 have signed LOIs)--
Kaleb Korver- a 6'4" 2-star shooting guard from Pella, Iowa, and the Brother of Klayton (Drake> and Kyle (76ers)
P'Allen Stinnett- a 6'3" 4-star shooting guard from prep school, Brewster Academy.
Kenton Walker- a 6'8" 3-star forward from San Diego, CA.

Molinari to Creighton?
What about Stan Heath...
Anthony Grant VCU?

Mo to Creighton... that's some funny stuff! Mo needs to be a career assistant planning defense and only defense.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. IMO, look for McKenna's name to surface as the favorite to replace Dana at CU.

This is shaping up to be an interesting 2007-08 season ... At least half the coaches in the conference will be new to Valley headcoaching.

That's great. The Valley will now be competing for the number 15 spot in the RPI with the Sun Belt Conference! And Bradley and SIU will meet in the Valley Tournament championship with the winner receiving the only NCAA bid out of the Valley, with the loser not even making the NIT! Welcome back to the "good ol' days" of the Valley! :?

I wouldn't go that far, but I do think that with the high turnover this year of players and coaches, we may be back to a 2 bid league for a few years. CU is still bringing in quality players, so with the right hire they can continue to be a force. BU and SIU both look like they're in solid position to make a run at the title next year, and I won't count CU out until they're out.

To be quite honest, I don't care as long as Bradley is good and wins the league and gets in the NCAA tourney. I do not care if SIU, Creighton or any of the others ever get in again. If BU wins the league for the next 20 years straight because the league slips some, that is fine with me! The only reason to root for the others is so the MVC is repsected in case BU does not win the league, and of course so recruits will come to the league and BU. But, as long as BU wins... Bottom line: I would rather win a so-so league and get to the NCAA than finish 4th in a better league and get to the NIT. I just opened myself up for plenty of attacks now! Go ahead... I think I know all the arguments against my position (i.e. better league, better players = better BU team = better chance to win some games in the NCAA, etc., etc.)

Well, the Valley survived--and thrived--after Weber left, Stallings left, and so forth. Dana Altman, as good as he is, is certainly not the only good coach out there. The Creighton program is in excellent shape I think they'll be able to find someone at least as good as Altman. Creighton seemed to plataeu the last few years..very good teams, but not great teams. Maybe the new hire can get them to a point where they can have some success in the NCAA tournament.

With 17,000 seats to fill, I fully expect Creighton to hire a highly qualified replacement.
I expect him to keep Creighton playing at a high level and that, G-Dog, is good for THE VALLEY and Bradley!
This isn't your "Fathers Valley." Wait maybe it is your fathers Valley. Guess it depends on your age?.
Anyway, it is all good!

I wish it were my "Father's Valley" as that was back in the 50's and 60's when the Valley was recognized as a premier league! All I was saying was I don't care what any other team but Bradley does and I am certainly not going to stress about it. Simple as that. :)

While it's much more rewarding to win a more competitive league, I can certainly see george's side to this! Exactly how much respect did the Valley get this year as the #6 RPI conference in the country? I'm not real sure how being a 2-bid league in years to come is any different than being a 2-bid league in what is, in my opinion, one of the best conferences, top-to-bottom, in the country. Simply put, the Valley just doesn't get the respect now and that's after getting 50% of our bids to the Sweet 16 the last two years.
