Chicago was chosen as the US selection to contend to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Chicago was chosen over Los Angeles. Houston, Philadelphia, and San Francisco also put in a bid, but were already eliminated.


Just announced. More details pending.
 
Yeah, I know it's nice to get alot of global attention in chicago, adn illinois, but man, I sure hope my taxes don't go up because chicago will have to build a olympic arena, and that will not be cheap!
 
An Olympics is a horrible idea for everyone other then the politicians who get their palms greased. Those of you who lie below and to the west of the State of Chicago will end up paying for this Olympics, but you will not see any benefits. Heck they are talking about Prelim soccer matches in Minnesota.

If I lived in Illinois I would be calling my legislators and tell them absolutely NO to this.
 
I agree with talking with the local government about this. I really don't want to have to pay for it, and then have maybe one event if lucky even close to Peoria.
