Will Rashad Be a Starter?

I have to think that certainly for some games, BU will go with two post players and 3 guards, and Rashad will possibly start right off.

He certainly will be valuable in guarding the bigs on the other Valley teams, and I would like to see him start.
We now have team members from Illinois, Minnesota, North Carolina, Missouri, Indiana, Alaska, Texas, Canada, California, and you can even count New York, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, and Gambia if you count the schools our present kids played at and the recent departees.

dogs...would you count this as evidence that BU's Sweet 16 run gets our name out a little farther than just Illinois and the surrounding states?

While I can't speak for DRU, I don't think he will argue the point that the Sweet 16 got our name out there and has helped recruiting. What he is saying IMO is that we have not landed the big BCS type player that just totally wows you night in and night out.

Back on topic... I don't think that Austin will start right away but I do think he will get plenty of P.T. Remember...it's not always who starts the game but who FINISHES the game!!!

I would like to see Austin and Collins start. I think Salley is a good 6th man, come off the bench and give us a scoring boost kind of guy.

To be honest I think our starting lineup has so many possibilities, with the departure of JF(who was assumed a starter) and the RA signing there a just so many things that could happen. I would think it would be something like DRuff, JC, RB, RA, DC. While I would love to see Salley start I think he brings less to the table as far as athleticism and catchup problems than DC or RA. I honestly think this is a great problem to have, It sounds like the only players who may not contribute right away next year are AT and SS, which is really great.

Quite frankly...NO. Andre Corbitt was from Florida, Gillingham/Canada, Kirsch/Alaska...the list goes on. I WILL say its obvious the Sweet 16 run has indeed got BU more exposure though.

Again my emotional post was done to create conversation AND to release frustration. As I stated I haven't seen the HUGE recruit I had expected through no fault of the coaching staff and more my own hopes and dreams.

We have a GREAT class.....I am thrilled and believe the sweet 16 run IS paying dividends upon further review.

I agree with the thought of Salley coming off the bench. It would give us experience and depth in our reserves and he would be better suited to come off the bench in my opinion.

DC
RA
D Ruff
JC
??

The 5th spot is still a question mark for me. It seems like a lot of people are high on Ray Brown but I wouldn't be surprised to see AW get some starts as well. Either way that's a strong starting 5 that will no doubt contend for the MVC Title.

Honestly I really don't know, I think RB's size is the reason a lot of people are high on him(a good reason), but AW will get serious minutes, as will Sam M and TCS, those guys are gonna be team leaders a year from now.

Anyone know how SS is progressing this offseason?

Well said and its not even a kid that "wows me nite in and nite out".....moreso a recruit that has UNC, Florida, Tennessee and BU on his final list and chooses BU. Unreal expectations but a guy can dream. While a guy like that could and might wow us......its just the intial battle some suggested we would win due to the sweet 16 run.

I have come to believe the NCAA appearance DID help us just NOT to the level I was (wrongly) expecting.

Great class.....great job JL.

I completely forgot about DW, assuming he makes it here and has his baggage in check here could very well be the 5th starter.

I think we start:

David Collins (7'0")
Anthony Thompson (6'10")
Sam Singh (6'9")
Will Egolf (6'9")
Danny Ruffin (5'10")

:D

Mob, that's suppose to be a wink ( ) not a smiley ( ).

I'm going with

DR
JC
DW
RA
MS

I'm just making an assumption that Collins is raw even though most reports are to the contrary. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, and think that Matt Salley will start, at least to open the season, as his game really progressed this last season.

I would agree with that assesment, I hope MS gets to start. A lot of people were dissapointed he came rather than Sikes and he did great things last year for our team. He's also just a really nice guy.

Someone whos knows DW better than, I what kind of player is he? I trekked out to ICC to watch him play... and he didn't, it was in the winter where his grades were bad or he argued with the coach or W/E it was. Any way what type of game does he play? A description or comparison to another player or two would be great!

i'm going with
DR
JC
DC
RB
DW
if we go more of a 4 guard
if we're playing a 3-2
DR
JC
DC
MS
RB
anyway i look at it...this team is gonna be scary b/c of all the combo's
i would put my first off the bench...except their are about 6 guys we could have come off first and i'm already confusing myself with all the initials :?

This will be a heckuva team if Salley is coming off the bench. I don't think he will be. He's the only one with experience and I look forward to him getting better. I think he fits the power forward position well.

I like that BU is two deep at each position. It should make for quite the battles in the summer and practice.

It's tough for me to guess a starting lineup since I haven't seen many of them and I haven't seen Ray Brown play in over a year and it looks like he has bulked up since then.

Yes, last year we had the 4 guard lineup, next year it will be the 4 center lineup. Great thinking Mob!

At least our rebounding problems from last year would be solved with this line-up.

I think JL will have the luxury of going with a "match-up" lineup each game- in that he will see who has been playing well and who matches up with the opposition...

DR& JC will start and probably Matt-- after that, I think match-ups will dictate a lot...

So basically you will see a lot of minutes divided amongst the newbies...

I see the guys off bench in this order....
AW
Cole-Scott
Rashad
DW
RB
SS

As always- guys will have to earn starts/PT...

I think Braveman here is right, some players don't like this(i.e. the best players should start, period) but I think this is probably what will happen, I'm not sure if MS is guaranteed starting, and you forgot about DC. But I agree with the matchup philosophy.
