Another Illinois Player in Legal Trouble/Illini Gone Wild!

Calvin Brock caught running a red light & driving on a suspended license.
No discussion on any of the 3 different Illinois message boards. Either they get up real late or they don't even know about it yet.
The offense occurred March 24, and Brock appeared in court Friday, and the case was continued until May 1 when Brock is again scheduled to appear in court..
Ilinois has really done a monumental job keeping much of this stuff hush-hush, but matters of public record cannot be hidden.

Here is the data from the Circuit Clerk's web site...you can check it out, too.

Here is the first charge:

Check out this site--

(select Traffic on the left, and enter the last name: Brock.....
You can also have some fun and enter McBride, Jamar Smith, even Marcus Arnold & Trent Meacham....all have had various traffic offenses.

Then you can go to the criminal record (select on the left instead of traffic) and you can also check for Jamar and Luther Head, McBride, etc..))

This is just astounding.
With all the traffic and legal troubles, wouldn't you think the Illinois coaching
staff would have already checked on whether these guys are properly licensed to drive?
Just who is running the show down there? Is it too hard to ask each scholarship player to show his drivers license
and be sure it's valid, and to have one of the coaching staff check on a few of them every now and then to
make sure they aren't all at booze and drug parties?

The pjstar had it in the paper a few days ago I believe, so I guess it's just that the Tribune is way behind...

It's a well known fact that the Journal Star people frequent Bradleyfans and grab news items.

Ahh, ok, I did not realize that since I am relatively new here.

It turns out there is some good news and bad news for Calvin Brock.
The charges of driving on a suspended license was dropped.

The bad news is that it was dropped because the paperwork was still not completed from the other accident the kid recently had that caused the license to appear suspended in the Champaign police computers.

So the kid must have had another recent accident as well, but the details of that accident are not being released.
It did not occur in Champaign County.

I agree that the Illini are gone wild, and now Michael Jeffrey Jordan, Jr. can be one of 'em!

Meanwhile, a charge of driving on a suspended license was dismissed against sophomore guard Calvin Brock, who also was ticketed for disobeying a traffic light on March 24.

Brock's license "shouldn't have been suspended,'' Rietz said, because paperwork from an earlier accident involving Brock had been misplaced. Brock still will face a fine for the traffic charge.

Thr UoI has "gotten" to Rietz....

Let's quit worrying about what's going on with the Illinois players. This is a Bradley board, so we shouldn't be gloating over what is happening elsewhere and hope our guys can avoid such problems.

Yea... it is ok to talk about the Illini ONLY if it is positive.

Flyin' Illini
Cryin' Illini
Whinin' Illini

Kinda off-topic, but I was wondering if the Illini pulled Trent Meacham's scholarship? I know when he recieved his scholarship after walking-on, he signed a clause that said Illinois had the right to take his scholarship away. Right now I count 13 scholarship players without Meacham, and then 5 walk-ons. Just curious.

Meacham's current status is "preferred walk-on".

By the way, if you do a little digging you find that numerous Illini players have had recent traffic offenses...it's all in the police data search file...
Not just McBride & Jamar, but Brock, Holdren, Meacham, Marcus Arnold...

And seems like every day the Champaign Co. State's Attorney Julia Reitz is in the news again in regards to some Illinois athlete getting arrested!
Now even more!

I know the Illini fans will think we're picking on them, but take this up with the Trib...

Hey Coach

Hey Coach

Hey Coach,
Thirteen scholies plus five walkons divided into two levels?
I love the two (or more) levels of walkons. :o I wonder if the
elders at Temple Square in SLC designed their status. (PM me
if you are interested in the LDS church BTW).

Now I understand football. You start with 11 2-way guys.
Then you put in a defense and special teams. Then a goal-
line defense and a red-zone offense. And on and on.

Coach, how many bodies do you need out there before it
all becomes a flaping circus? Was it like this when there was
freshmen teams? Or did the frosh practice separately?
I think at the deepest drought, BU was down to 8 scholly
players..

And anyone else with experience, feel free to chime in.
Thanx in advance all. Wing 1981

Meacham is a walk-on actually, and I think there's a mutual agreement that if a scholly is available, then he'll get one, but if not, he is a walk-on for the year.

As for Brock.....sheesh. What the heck is going on over there?
