Drake Lands New Recruit

Drake just signed John Michael Hall, a 6-foot-5 guard from Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Community College,
he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Hall averaged 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in junior college, helping Abraham Baldwin to a 27-5 record and No. 11 national ranking.

He's the second player to join the Bulldogs under new coach Keno Davis.

Drake beat out South Carolinia State for his services:

This one has a lot of Drake fans scratching their heads.

ABAC is an agricultural college (my nephew attended there) that specializes in turf management (i.e. golf courses, ballparks, etc).

Perhaps Keno is looking for someone to upgrade the golf courses in the Des Moines area.....

According to the guy who runs jucojunction.com, this kid has a lot of upside....but I'm a little worried (and confused) about the defense comment.

Story coming this afternoon. He is a very athletic 3/2 man. My only question is that can he defend at that level?? Great upside and very talented.

If he's such a great athlete, shouldn't he be able to play defense?

Defense is attitude. :x

They lose their three best players,
both of their juco 2-year guys, Ajay Calvin and Al Stewart graduate and so does Nick Grant.
All three started every game.
Then Aliou Keita graduates, and although he only logged 14.4 minutes per game, he started 29 of 32 games.
......And little used Armel Traore dit Nignan graduates.

Klayton Korver had another knee surgery but should still be available to play next fall, and Chris Bryant (junior) left to transfer to Alaska-Anchorage.

If anyone else is leaving, I haven't heard (besides Dr. Tom), so maybe one of the Drake guys can confirm.

Who all did Drake graduate or lose this past year? I can't remember.

Graduated 4 starters....Stewart, Grant, Calvin and Keita.

Thanks, that was who I thought graduated with the exception of Calvin, I thought he was a junior. He's a good player, will be tough to replace.

Good offensive player.....I won't say anything at all about his defense. :D

There are 2-3 guys that most Drake fans wish would leave.....but I don't think anybody else is leaving.

Northern Iowa has begun to get some recruits out of Chicago, so I am curious if that's a plan for Keno?
If Josh Parker pans out, that's at least a start to tap into the talent rich Chicago area.

The hiring of Rodell Davis as an assistant should help the Bulldogs make some in-roads in the Chicago area. His juco team in Wyoming was full of Chicago area kids.
