Matt Roth's team wins big AAU tournament

Lewis Jackson of Decatur Eisenhower lead the Indiana Elite to a win in the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions AAU tournament in North Carolina. Matt Roth had a good tournament, too. Former Bradley recruit, Tyler Zeller was named MVP.
The Indiana Elite were playing without Jackson's high school teammate Jeremy Robinson (torn ACL), and without DeAndre Liggins (stress fracture) and center Beas Hamga (graduated early).

You have to think the moving back of the 3 point line will make Matt Roth even more desirable as a recruit.

I found some video of the Indiana Elite games,
it'll take a little time to load and you have to have high speed,
but the entire games are there.

7-ft Tyler Zeller does not jump center, but jumping jack Emanuel Negedu does. Lewis Jackson is good.
Indy Elite in red, Roth enters the game about 16 minutes in.
He wears #4, and his first shot comes at 20:45 into the tape, when Matt swishes a shot from 6 feet beyond the arc.
(you can use the fast forward feature but it isn't very efficient)
At 22:15 he miises a jumper from 8 ft beyond the arc, but Matt took it with confidence.
Roth really doesn't get a whole lot of playing time!
this game is definite PROOF positive that very little defense gets played in AAU ball. This is the title game.

Here is another whole game, the semifinal

I watched and from what I saw, I am not sure that he could guard another guard in our conference. The players he was matched up on were literally licking their lips to take him off the dribble. I think he would be a nice bench player for us. Someone that could come off the bench and knock down a trifecta for us but not a must get recruit like some people on this board make him out to be. If he signs, great, and if not it is not that big a loss for us...IMHO

Let me throw this out there to you guys... We just got a kid to walk on in Ryan Thronton who in my opinion can shoot the trifecta just as well as Matt Roth.,...and at 6'7 (approximately) has a quicker release. I would like to see Roth in a BU uniform, but with Thronton already on the team, I think that we should look elsewhere.

Ryan has a LONG way to go before he will ever see the floor.Saying Roth and Thorton are the same type of player is crazy look at the teams that are after Roth and Ryan is a walk on.

But in the statements above, there was talk of Roth coming off the bench to shoot the three... I agree with those statements... IMO Roth would be better off redshirting his first year if he came to BU... We already have someone in Thornton who is taller and can come off the bench to shoot threes... We all know that Roth wants to play at UIUC, but they havent exactly knocked down the door to go after him!
