At the end of today's story about the Richwoods Shootout, Dave Reynolds reports that J.J. Tauai has taken a position as assistant basketball coach for Peoria Notre Dame High School. He will work with former BU player Eddie Matthews.

Tauai has a job with the Peoria County Sheriff's office.

What a great hire Mr. Matthews. Eddie has done a great job and this hire will be a great fit for his program. Best of luck Eddie and JJ.

The level of talent was way down this year at the Richwoods Shootout.
A lot of teams playing without their senior stars, and even one JV team that played and actually fared pretty well.
In the end, it was Notre Dame that won the title game of the shootout, over Manual 69-53.
In years gone by top D-I players abounded, but this year, it was hard to figure just who if anyone would be considered a D-I player. Champaign was there, but I heard none of their stars were playing.
If Josh Edmonds didn't go D-I then there sure isn't anyone else on PND that's any better, and Manual might have one kid but I was not impressed.
The kid that's been hyped as Peoria's next best, Donovine Stewart, will be going to Limestone. This kid was 5'9 and dominant in 6th grade, but now is a 5'9 freshman who has somewhat peaked, so I doubt he will be as dominant.
Dunlap is weak, so are East Peoria and Metamora.
