Potential NBA-sized lineup

I think it's ironic for a team that will likely run some more four-guard lineups this year, because there is the potential to put an NBA-looking lineup on the floor.

If the Braves want to go big, they could run out...

PG Daniel Ruffin - 5'10
SG Jeremy Crouch - 6'5
SF Rashad Austin - 6'7
PF Will Egolf - 6'9
C David Collins - 7'0

That's actually a bigger collective lineup than the Bulls will start this year.

I know it won't happen, but something like that would look pretty out of place in the Valley.

With what we've heard about Egolf's athleticism and ability to step out and shoot the three, I wouldn't mind seeing those 5 players on the floor. 8)

Despite their respective heights, I would switch Egolf to SF and have Austin as PF.

I think it will be hard to keep TCS out of the starting line-up!

I think the 5' 10" will keep him out of the lineup, you put him up against an MVC 2 guard or swingman and they'll give him trouble.

Not with a 7-footer waiting in the lane who's got his back

I dont know if we are ready for the "starting line-up" thread. However I would say only Ruff and JC are locks and the rest of the spots are open but I am pretty sure Andrew Warren is going to start.

I too have to disagree on this one - you have to think of T. Bennett or W. Franklin. Neither of those guys were your typical 6'3 to 6'5 two guard, but they were both very efffective in the MVC.

Will and Tony were both 6 even... Thats a big 2 inches, and if your saying we didn't have size issues last season I would disagree with that...

Is Crouch really 6'5"? The times I passed close by to him around campus he didn't seem that much taller than me and I'm 6'2".

Also, I think the coaches are being generous listing Lavin at 6' and Warren at 6'5" as well. Could this be some trickery to get opponents' coaches to try to match bigger, slower guys to our guards get an advantage?

Abe, you must be taller than you think you are! :?

I have been close to those guys a number of times, and I would say that Andrew Warren and Jeremy Crouch seem to each be right around 6'5". Maybe Lavin is a little under 6', and I don't think Sam Singh is truly 6'9" (maybe more like 6'7 1/2" or 6'8")but I think Bradley is one team that doesn't seem to exaggerate the height of their players like some schools do.

I think speed has been the key to the program turning around. The '05-'06 had height, but it didn't achieve success until the lineup was shaken up and the defense started causing turnovers.

Rebounding certainly was the achilles heel of last year team. Maybe more height is needed so BU doesn't get burned on the boards.

I agree that Ruff and JC are the only sure starters at this point. Also, how nice is it to have two VERY strong freshmen in Will and Sammy! :D

Actually a "bigger" lineup would replace Austin with Singh...

Early in the Sweet 16 year, I remember a coach stating that BU's Lineup and bench was more like an NBA bench with a few ~6'6" guards (Crouch and Brown) just sitting..

I believe that quote came from Turgeon, but we also had Hemey and as you say Brown, Crouch Singh sitting.

What is so exciting about this upcoming season is the possiblities of the different combination JL can use. He can go small and quick, big and physical but he always has what is to me in college basketball the most important thing an experienced point guard.

JC is definitly 6' 5'', I've talked with him before, and I am 6' 2''. I also have a very good friend that is 6' 6'', and him and JC are almost the same height.

The greatest thing about trying to figure out what the starting line-up will be is the amount of talent this team appears to have; coach Les will be able to have a lot of weapons and can give the opposing teams a lot of matchup problems.
