One of the top big men in Illinois for 2008, Stan Simpson of Chicago Simeon has released a shortened list and it still includes Bradley--

Bradley is the only midmajor among his choices that include schools from the Big Ten, Big East, SEC, and Big 12--

List- Arkansas, Bradley, Colorado, DePaul, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Miami, and Minnesota.

Stan Simpson is a 6'9" post player who played at Chicago Leo High School the last couple years, but has transferred to Simeon for his senior season.

He is rated as high as the #6 player in Illinois--

A new article on the ChicagoHoops.com site reports that Stan Simpson has eliminated several top schools pursuing him. It had been previously reported that he had offers from Indiana, Colorado, Minnesota, Kansas State, DePaul and Virginia, all of which have been dropped from his final list.

He is now down to a final 3 of Bradley, Arkansas, and Illinois--

wow, sounds like a great player. major kudos to JL and the whole staff for even coming down to the wire with these top-flight prospects. I know we'll get one soon ...

(well, I don't KNOW, i have no inside info, but I should say that I strongly suspect due to statistical probability ;-) )

I just hope this isn't another kid that says in the end, "I chose Illinois because I wanted to play in the big 10." I think I will puke if I hear that again!

I would say the odds of him coming to BU are slim, but once again I think this shows that we're getting closer and closer to landing a big time recruit. I also think it shows that we're making major inroads with the city of Chicago's best players. We've landed Maniscalco, came close with Shumpert, and are now close with Simpson. That's a very nice trend IMO.

Man I agree with you GTD... Hopefully this kid reads about the turmoil at Illinois and why Dana Altman turned down Arkansas before he makes his final choice!

We're gonna have to win 1 of these battles sooner or later right? Also it lists that Shumpert really liked playing with Stan, they could have played together for four more years here at BU!

Unfortunately, it sounds like he's leaning heavily towards Arkansas. He has an official visit scheduled for Sept. 15 and it's been reported that he has a lot of family in the Little Rock area and would love to be close to them. He also has a good relationship with former Marshall star Patrick Beverly and likes the SEC style of play.

Arkansas has offered Simpson, but I have heard they may be talking about a redshirt year, which could still work in Bradley's favor.

IllinoisPrepBullseye has an update on Stan Simpson. It doesn't add much new to what has already been posted. It does confirm that academic issues could determine where Simpson ends up, and that he would like to make a committment in the early signing period in November.--

A new premium report on Stan Simpson says Illinois is really turning up the heat on recruiting Stan Simpson.
They have made Stan their top priority, as they cannot afford to lose another top instate recruit to an out of state school or to a mid-major.
Illinois is also hotly trying to reload on guards for 2008 and 2009 and are going hard after DJ Richardson, Diamond Taylor, Brandon Paul, Chris Colvin, and Joseph Bertrand.

I seriously don't see them landing Simpson at this point.
