Bradley is recruiting a 6'3" shooting guard, Toure Murray, from Klein Forest High School in Houston. He will be a senior, class of 2008. If that sounds familiar, it is the same high school that Bradley freshman Anthony Thompson played at. Now with Bradley's assistant coach Alvin Brooks' connections in Texas we may be seeing more recruits from this state. He plays for the Houston Select AAU team.

He already has scholarship offers from Charlotte, Oral Roberts, Tulane, Bradley, Florida Atlantic, La-Monroe, New Orleans, and North Texas. He says he top 2 currently are Charlotte and Wichita State (they haven't offered yet). He didn't score a lot for Klein Forest last year, but did average 3 assists per game. But now that their star Alonzo Edwards has graduated, he will get to see the ball a lot more this year and expect to see his scoring average rise.

And an earlier article titled- "Murry Taking Things Slowly"--

Here are a couple clips from the articles--
The Murry family in Houston is used to getting Division I recruiting interest. Brothers Nile (Temple/TCU) and Yannick (Texas Southern) have just finished off their college careers and now Toure Murry is on his way to getting one started. After experiencing a growth spurt in the past year, the Klein Forest High School combo guard is up to 6-foot-3, 160-pounds and his recruitment is starting to explode as he stars for his Houston Select AAU squad.
Murry's last two tournaments have been golden. He first helped Houston Select to the NBA Blue Division title of the Great American Shootout in Denton and then was a big part of the team advancing to the finals of a tournament in Tulsa. Murry's play has drawn plenty of praise - and his recruitment has increased as a result.

New Bradley recruit- Class of 2008 SG- Toure Murry

Not much to report about Bradley lately, so here is a little news for the hungry Bradley fan --

Below is a link to a thread on the Recruiting board with some information about a new name on Bradley's recruiting list.
Toure Murry is a 6'3" shooting guard from Houston Klein Forest High School. He played on the same team there last year with Bradley freshman Anthony Thompson. He emerged this summer playing for the Houston Select AAU team, with some high scoring performances against high level national competetion. Thanks coach. There is a lot of talent in Texas. It's gotta help to have a Houston guy on the coaching staff now.

To be a national program, you need to recruit on a national level. I can't think of a better way to do that than to start harvesting the biggest state in the union (48 contiguous anyways). McCain specifically said that Alvin Brooks was instrumental in getting him to BU. It didn't take long for Brooks to pay instant dividends. I have a feeling Texas is going to be treating us well for the next few years.

MCCAIN IN '08!

Looks like Toure Murray has already verballed to Wichita State according to scout.com

It is a subscription article, but Dave Telep has reported today that Murray has already verballed to Wichita...Oh well.

Well, would have been nice, but WSU has had a strong presence in Texas for a while. I still contend we need a big guard/wing player with 1 of the 2 remaining scholarships for 2008.

Well that is probably true. An earlier article had said his favorite was Wichita State. The article says--
Toure Murray, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Houston (Tex.) Klein Forest pledged to the Shockers over SMU, Fresno State and Bradley.
He’ll take his official trip to see the Shockers this coming weekend. “What put them over the top was that they have a great fan base, good academics and I felt the coaching staff showed me love,” Murray said. “I respected them and trusted them.”
Murray told Scout.com that he was recruited as a combo guard.

I thought BU had a pretty good chance at him, but maybe with McCain's verbal, we didn't need both guys.

Here's more on the committment of Murray to Wichita State:

Gregg Marshall’s Wichita State Shocker program locked up a 3-star shooting guard Monday night. Toure Murray, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Houston (Tex.) Klein Forest pledged to the Shockers over SMU, Fresno State and Bradley.

As a junior, Murray averaged 11 points a game for his high school team.

“What put them over the top was that they have a great fan base, good academics and I felt the coaching staff showed me love,” Murray said. “I respected them and trusted them.”
"They have a great winning tradition. They go to the tournament almost every year and it’s a great conference.”
