Bradley's first game of the season is Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:05 pm at the UIC Pavillion on the campus of University of Illinois-Chicago.

This is also the first game for UIC, coached by Jimmy Collins. UIC tied for fourth in the Horizon League last year. They have yet to play any exhibition games, yet. UIC plays their only preseason exhibition Tuesday night against Lewis University.

Why only 1 pre-season game? If I was serious about contending for the tournament I would want my team to play at least 2 or 3 games to get the flow and some chemistry going. Playing in practice can only go so far. Looks like they better work on some 3's in there only pre-season game in order to keep up with us Saturday LOL.

Although not directly related to UIC, here are a couple comments about BU basketball & the board.
Interest is building, as seen in the stats on our board and elsewhere.
First, someone "in the know" Sunday at the game told me that BU is at a season ticket sales level that's well more than 600 above last season.
The crowd at Sunday's game was actually quite remarkable, since Sunday attendance is notoriously low...
There aren't many Sunday games to compare, but last season's early game against UIC was on a Sunday and the attendance was little more than this past Sunday's and the UIC game was against a D-I opponent & NOT an exhibition!
One early season game a couple years ago vs. Northeastern on a Sunday didn't even draw 8200, and it was also a regular season game against a real D-I opponent.

Then, as a reflection of interest in BU basketball.... our "board stats" show that "thread activity" and "posting activity" (24 hour stats) both hit all time highs over the past two days. And if you go to the front page of BradleyFans, you'll see the number of people viewing online even at odd hours is between 50-100, and they are from up on campus as well as from as far away as Alaska!

I hope we have a "record crowd" of BU fans on hand in Chicago for the UIC game.
Everyone be sure to wear RED!!

well good thing it wasn't against those FAKE D-I schools!!! Those always throw me off!
haha i kid kid

but yea I am reallying looking for this year to be very close to a sell-out every game!

Looks like per their message board Robert Bush 6'4 sr guard is out for our game.

Collins announced at their luncheon that his starting line up

Mayo 5'11 JR
Stewart 6'4 So
Butell 6'7 SO Texas Tech transfer
White 6'2 SR
Vandermeer 7'0 SR

Yes, Saturday's game will be the first game broadcast by Insight. It will be on channel 44 in Peoria and most of East Peoria. Frank Bussone and Chuck Buescher are doing the game, and it should be available on BUBraves.tv.

Bradley did play against 7 footer Vandermeer 3 years ago when he was a freshman at Bowling Green. This will be his first season at UIC--

11/27/04 Bradley at Bowling Green- Vandermeer played 7 minutes and scored 1 point.--

I saw Mayo play last year a couple times, and he is a very good player. He was not highly recruited out of Indiana, but he can play.

This will be Vandermeer's 2nd season at UIC. He is much improved from his year at Bowling Green. Last year, he shattered the Horizon League record for blocks and was 4th in the nation, I believe. He had more blocks by himself than 6 or 7 Horizon teams did altogether. I'm not trying to be a homer, but he will definitely cause problems in the middle. He's one of those guys that has a knack for finding that ball....and he takes major pride in his defense.

Mayo is a great player...he nailed six 3 pointers tonight in a close win over Lewis. He is also a 90% Ft shooter. Definitely the leader on this team.

Unfortunately, we don't have much else. Buttell is somewhat of an unknown as it's his 1st year in uniform for UIC. he had 9 points and 9 boards tonight.

Karl White is a great defender, but wild and inconsistent on offense.

Spencer Stewart is a solid PG, but a little slow and sometimes he tries to get too flashy with his passes.

We're all looking forward to seeing Robo Kreps and Tori Boyd mature. Unfortunately, they won't mature in time for the game against you guys...

Three starters (2 freshmen, 1 soph) from their exhibition game last night, Robert Kreps, Stewart Spencer, and Tori Boyd, have played a lot of games in Peoria at the Pekin Tournament and during March Madness, so perhaps some of you are familiar with them.

Between the three of them, they played a combined 60 minutes for UIC and were a combined:
1-11, 1-6 from 3pt, 3pts, 2 rebs, 4 turnovers in the game.

For Lewis University--
Bloomington HS's Lonnie Lawrence played 8 minutes, scored 2 pt, and ex-Central teammate of Shaun Livingston, Dustin Warfield, played 24 minutes and scored 3.

So I am guessing the final answer for those of us who have DISH is that we are S.O.L! Is that what I am getting?

Thanks Big D

Hey thanks Big D From UIC for your post. We all know how
tough it is to post on what is thought to be a down year....
You gave us an overly honest assessment perhaps so we
Brave fans have some idea of what to look for on Sunday.
Thanks again, friend and may UIC have exceptional luck
starting on November 12th. LOL

Vandermeer score 3 points, 8 rebounds and 0 blocks in last years game. Josh Mayo had a good game with 16 points on 7 for 13 shooting.

Last year, UIC played Bradley's game and tried to run with them (81-72). I think tempo will be a key to this year's game.

I am staying home - gonna hang out and listen to Snell and Coach. I might even post in a game thread often.

Honestly, with it getting colder and the deer 'starting to move'... smart move (IMO for me) to stay home than make the drive to a Peoria establishment to watch the game.

For anyone in the Chicago area who wants to listen to the game on radio, the UIC Flames just announced their games will be broadcast by WIND 560 AM radio. Saturday's game against Bradley is their first broadcast.

Also, for those that can't make it to the game but would like to watch it, UIC usually streams all of its home games through the Horizon League Network for free. It's never a 100% certainty that the game will come on, but this is a big game and I assume they will play it. There is currently a "watch" link for the game on the main horizon league page which leads me to believe that they will be showing it. But the game is not currently listed in the list of live events on the HL network page....so who knows. It is an option though, so if there's no way you can see the game, keep checking the HLN site out to see if they will be streaming it.

You do have to register (very fast), and the video is fairly good quality, but the viewing area is very small (probably about the size of a post-it). You can increase the size but the quality obviously decreases.

Enjoy!
