What we are missing right now

2 main things this team is missing that we had on last years team are.

1) A lock down defender

2) a go to guy late in the game who can create his own shot

JJ would have guarded Foster tonight and Franklin would have taken the shots late in the game. I think Warren needs to step up in both cases. He is the best we have at creating his own shot and is athletic enougth to be our best perimeter defender. This years team is more talented and deep in the front court but still has no one who commands a double team. We are a guard team and cannot rely on Ruff to create his own shots late in games and cannont rely on JC to guard the other teams best player.

I know other things are missing like JC not hitting shots but I think that will even out as the year goes on.

i agree. i thought theron wilson would be our defender but we keep putting him on much bigger guys. no fault to him it's just that he can handle a guy 4 inches taller than he is so that's who we give him. it'd be nice to see warren step up big and emerge into our goto guy on both sides of the floor.

I think Wilson can be that 'lockdown' defender, but Jim has to match him up correctly. I thought the reason we recruited all of these bigs was to avoid having those types of size mismatches. We still have a 6'5" guy playing the 4 spot.

Warren and JC need to start making shots when they're open.

You really think it is a lack of confidence that let Foster score his career high in points? JC could be the most confident guy in the world and he still could not guard him.

It should have been a combination of Ruffin and Wilson on Foster. That, Collins lack of time, and the play drawn up with 1:40 are 2 areas where JL didn't help us tonight.

Was it really that much better? They scored 42 points in the 2nd half, and shot more FT's in the 1st half.

JC played the best he could and still had not chance of guarding Foster. Les should have put someone else on him earlier.

Won't disagree there. We put 51 points on a good SEC team.

I think some of the new guys need to contribute more in the form of points. Also, JC needs to get going and start taking some inside shots rather than always jacking up 3's. We need to improve our defense, and guys like Andrew Warren need to keep improving. He and D-Ruff have been terrific so far. Matt Salley needs to either step up or make way for David Collins. I wish JL would play Collins more.

Last year's team would have lost by 30. It would have ended up like MSU last year, we would have been way to small to do anything.

The comeback was great from this team.

I agree last years team would have been in trouble against their size and probably would have lost but that does not take away from my point. I am not saying last years team was better just that it had two things we dont have this year and it has shown already in both losses.

Wilson getting 3 questionable first half fouls was what we (didn't) need tonite. He sits and BU could not match em on the boards. Guys this team was BIG and skilled. it didn't come down to Rufs/Les's bad late play. not to many teams can dig out of that huge hole..BU did but had to have a few breaks to get over the hump.

This team is growing and getting better.

I think we all agree on that. I would like to see Collins, Wilson, Warren, JC and Ruff start with Egolf first off the bench for anyone except Ruff. Egolf is showing me something good everygame, I am really excited about his future. Think how good he will be when he starts hitting threes in games like he does in practice.

I completely agree with that starting lineup and Egolf coming in first. Egolf was the one player that I was really looking forward to seeing play before the season started. I don't have the pleasure of knowing who is doing what in practice, but I do seem to remember all the talk of Salley being the most impressive player in practice. That doesn't seem to have worked out and it's time to do what's best for this team right now. I must say that I really enjoy watching Egolf on the defensive end!
