I think we can deduce from this that the voting panel would predict the
Missouri Valley this way.....
1-SIU
2-Missouri State
3-Bradley
4-Creighton
5-Wichita State
6-UNI
7-Illinois State
8, 9, 10 would be Drake, Indiana State, and Evansville - (order not stated)

Wow....I think this is the first time I've seen MO St. above BU in preseason predictions...Berruh better live up to the expectations....they've been looking for a reason to can him since forever.....

actually i'm surprised to say that this is the first time i've seen missouri st. ahead of BU in preseason ranks. they are a good team and have the same head coach as last year. what i don't understand is how davidson isn't in the top 2 and how wichita state is ahead of uni and isu. i disagree with those things.

Here's a thought.........

I think these guys have been doing the Mid-major top 25 for 4 or 5 years now, and there have been times Creighton was #1
and SIU finished the season #1 last spring, but Bradley has never cracked the top 10.

Even when BU went to the Sweet 16 and finished #24 nationally among ALL schools in April of 2006,
http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=541

they still were not in the Top 10 of the Mid-major poll.

Then last year while BU was winning 22 games again, they still never got higher than #19

This is the first time ever that Bradley has been in the Top 10 of this poll.
I know it is only a poll....and maybe that isn't too impressive, but this poll is the only one so far that is voted on
by the true experts, the college coaches themselves.
And I don't know if everyone is getting the same kind of feeling that I am getting or not........
That this season is going to be something special. Too many great words about the team, the players, etc....
all coming from observers, experts, and people who have otherwise not been prone to superlatives. But they are saying this is the most talented team in years.
And other coaches are now chiming in, and we'll see the same thing next week when the MVC Media Day arrives.
You will see the other MVC coaches speaking to the strengths BU has and I expect to see honors for a few BU players and maybe another #2 spot in the preseason poll.
If there's anyone left out there who isn't feeling the excitement of all the good things we're seeing and good words that we're hearing,
then I guess you'll just have to wait to see the team.

PS-- I just spoke to a long time BU fan and season ticket holder who just bought several hundred dollars' worth of tickets
(as he does every year -- but usually not until December) to give to friends and co-workers,
knowing they will be extremely hard to get later.
He figures many of the upcoming games are going to be sellouts, and he's excited to see the season start, he is also
(due to my diligence with BradleyFans business cards) a new convert to our message board.
I think this is going to be a great year.

Boy, them experts love them some VCU don't they?

Indeed. You can call it the Eric Maynor and Anthony Grant bump.

But will they still love Eric Maynor after DRuff shuts him down again this year, just like last year? Not sure how it looked on TV, but you could see it in Maynor's eyes last year, he wanted nothing to do with DRuff.

Looked pretty good in the boxscore as well! I personally hope VCU continues getting the love up until December 22.

I had a friend go pick up two season tickets yesterday and the guy behind the counter said there are very few left. He told my friend that he has never sold so many season tickets this early and my friend had slim pickings. It should be interesting.....

Here is the picture and story that now goes with the Mid-Major Top 25

Kyle Whelliston just totally revamped his midmajority.com site, and he has his own
Mid-major Top 25.....here is Whelliston's as they are listed on his new site,
and it is obvious he really likes the Valley!!
and he doesn't consider Gonzaga, Memphis as midmajors.
(however many parts of his site are accessable only to subscribers....so he must have had trouble paying the bills)

1. Southern Illinois
2. Creighton

3. Butler
4. Nevada
5. Bradley
6. Missouri State
7. Wichita State
8. Northern Iowa

9. Virginia Commonwealth
10. Winthrop
11. Akron
12. Davidson
13. Old Dominion
14. New Mexico State
15. Kent State
16. Appalachian State
17. Toledo
18. Santa Clara
19. Wright State
20. Miami (Oh.)
21. Drexel
22. Illinois State
23. Utah State
24. Hofstra
25. Drake

ESPN has been giving their own mid-major top 10 poll some airtime lately. I think with 2 wins in South Padre we could maybe crack that poll. There are already 2 teams in their poll with 1 loss, so it's not like we'd be the only one.

VCU must not fail, they must not. Don't you understand, they beat DUKE for god's sake. They must be the second coming. I mean, they have Eric Maynor, they WILL make the NCAA, they WILL make the Sweet 16, and they WILL make a run at the Final 4. They have also locked up the 2 seed in the Eastern Conference in the NBA, and Maynor leads all Vote Getters for the A.L. at shortstop for the 2008 All Star game.

In other news coach K has taken over for Dr. Jarvik in those artificial heart
1112.gif
commercials, because nobody knows more than Coach K regardless of the subject.

Just a word on the Jarvik note....
as much as the commercials seem to hail Dr. Jarvik as an expert on everything from cholesterol medicine to credit cards, you have to wonder why he's selling himself for TV commercials.
Answer.....his "artifical heart" as most will accurately recall, was really a total flop, and for the past decade or more, all the research has gone totally in the opposite direction.
It may, in the grand scheme of things, actually be one of the worst inventions ever (although well intentioned), and it delayed the entire area of disease prevention and minimally invasive repair in favor of massive disease repair and heart replacement - for over a decade.
Dr. Jarvik is NOT a hero of anyone I know in the medical profession.
