Coach Les Show --tonight (Monday 11/26) 6-7 pm on WMBD 1470

When I'm out of town I listen to the games on WMBD1470.com. So you should be able to get Jim's show also.

What in the hell is this guy talking about? Hahaha, he said he called Memphis and Louisville, it sounds like he was trying to setup games for Coach.

After that guy's question JL talked about scheduling and how he and K Kavanagh split the duties about 50/50. Great job to both of them. He talked about the 2 for 1 deals with the "high majors" that some others have criticized. I remember reading Dana Altman said "Creighton does not do 2 for 1s" when he heard of the BU MSU deal. Jim said some won't even talk about a road return game. I agree with Jim Les that these are good deals for us, better games for the season ticket holders, the players get to play at the top level, and if we win one on the road over a top ten team it will lead off sportscenter. The only way we see coaches like Izzo and national TV is games like these. If BU can continue to build national recognition and draw big crowds for the BCS schools when they bring BU to their home the deals will get better. 3 for 2, 1 for 1?

I sit closer to the BU bench at Carver than the visitors so he won't hear me, so someone who sits behind the MSU bench please yell to Izzo thank for playing us here.

I was very pro 2-for-1 with a school like Michigan St at the time we signed it, and still am. Many on the VT board criticized BU (and me), saying that we're setting the MVC back by not standing firm on the home-and-home requests. Well, I think it's pretty arrogant of some schools to think they can do that. It's not realistic at this point. Not even mids like Gonzaga or Xavier can get home-and-homes with BCS programs. Heck, the BCS schools don't even schedule each other home-and-home out of conference anymore. It's usually on a neutral court or in a neutral tournament setting. With that being the case, why do these folks think their schools are so special as to land a home-and-home, when no one else can? If they want to wait around for a BCS school to have an opening late in the scheduling game, then maybe they'll land a home-and-home. But those opportunities are few and far between. If we can continue getting 2-for-1's with top 20 programs like MSU, or even neutral-home-away deals with BCS programs, I am all for it. It benefits our program both exposure-wise, and SOS-wise.

I agree fully, BB...If you want to play against programs like Michigan State in Peoria, it's gonna have to be a 2-for-1 deal...I don't see why that is such a big deal to some people. That deal gives you 3 chances to put a huge win on your resume. Take that 2-for-1 and then set up home-and-homes against the other quality mid-major teams like Butler, Xavier, VCU, etc...and then add the automatic conference home-and-home games each year against SIU, Creighton, WSU, MSU, UNI, ISU, etc...and when it is all said and done, you have a really, really respectable schedule.
If you want to play the whole "we're too good to be accepting 2-for-1 deals...from anyone" then you are going to have a schedule littered with home-and-homes against every team from the MAC, Horizon, and lower conferences that have your phone number...
Heck, if Duke or UNC called tomorrow and offered BU a 5-for-1 deal...wouldn't you want BU to take it? I know I would.

I agree with you guys as well. I don't see anything wrong with these 2-1 deals with big-time BCS schools. I mean really, from a student's perspective at least, the fact that Michigan State is gonna be here next week is something I still can't believe. The atmosphere will be good, you can count on that.

Totally agree on the Mich. St. 2-for-1 deal. If that's how we can get these kinds of games, then let's do it. If we can capitalize on the road win opportunities, then that'll be a huge boost to our RPI and standings.

Did JL mention about any sort of progress being made by DC in the stamina department? We're going to need him a lot more as time progresses..
