Setting the trouble with Don Nelson aside, if POB had the "consistent" internal and external fire of Zach Andrews he could be one of the best centers in the league. We all know there were nights where we wondered where POB was even during his second year at BU.

There is so much talent at that level it is up to youif you want to get to the next level. georgethedog is right! Can you imagine what type of player he would be! Let's face it he will not be playing much this year so I hope that will put a fire under him to prove Nellie wrong. He has the ability now he really is going to want it.
 
Guinness and Murph, I hope he invested his money wisely because unless he heads overseas he won't be getting paid much more in the NBA. He knew, you knew and I knew he wasn't ready. It was a wasted 2 years on his part.
 
I disagree. I still think there a few teams that would give POB a chance. He still has a ton of potential and is only 21 or 22 years old. A mobile young 7 footer should still be able to get a 1 or 2 year deal from some team I would think

Yeah centers can bounce around the NBA for a long time. All it takes is one 12 point/ 7 reb season and one stupid GM for a center to get a big contract.

Chico....I would guess more than half the guys that go to the NBA aren't "ready". Its a league that has turned to potential as its driving force for MANY draft picks. Of course POB wasn't ready to star in this league but what if he got hurt in his final two years OR never improved much while at BU?

He HAD to go IMO.....he should be set for life. I also think he'll get another look somewhere and if that doesn't go well he will end up overseas still making better money than most working stiffs.

If, if, if. How many first round picks do you know who are put on the inactive list this soon in their careers? Most players who leave early have a chance to contribute. IMO he would have been a force in the NBA after this season if he had stayed. Nothing against POB, I just think he made a mistake and had bad advice.

I don't know that he would be a higher pick this year than 9, but let's look at other top "bad" picks:
2004 #8 Rafael Araujo (out of the NBA)
#10 Luke Jackson (out of the NBA)
#12 Robert Swift (straight for HS, never developed)

The guy picked right behind POB is doing nothing (#10 Saer Sene-not on a roster). Hilton Armstrong (#12) isn't much better-3 ppg, 3 reb for NOH.

And don't forget Darko!

You have to take your money if you can get it. There's a big risk of injury (Oden, Livingston), and he's making a lot more sitting inactive than he would make this year-even if he worked at Star Trucking!

There are also a lot of players picked lower that have done better (Al Jefferson, Jameer Neslon in 2004; Ronnie Brewer in 2006).
 
With all the bad mouthing about Nelson, i'm impressed with GS's turnaround the last 10 games. Won 8 of last 10 games and holding down the 8th playoff spot in a tough western conference. I would still like for POB to be traded though.

If he hasn't done it or figured it out by now, unless he has some sort of Biblical life-changing event, I don't see it happening.....he's been playing ball long enough and old enough to be able to know the effort it should take to succeed or get better.
 
GEt him into Chicago for those BULLS!!!
honestly though he would be a good fit there.
Ben Wallace is a defensive center who can't shoot for crap
Joakim Noah is the backup...and he's teeeeeeerrible
POB could fit in nicely as an offensive center that's mobile like the rest of the team.

how great would that be!
